Rates and service

Overall Rating:
5 out of 5
By: Larry Collins on Monday, July 23, 2007
From: Gastonia, NC (United States)
Experience: 90 Days
Summary: For USA calls some others were a little less in price, but for international calls, which I make a lot of them, Phone Dog has the best price. Even better than that their customer service is outstanding.

Pretty Happy

Overall Rating:
4 out of 5
By: Big JohnSF on Monday, July 16, 2007
From: San Francisco, CA (United States)
Experience: 90 Days
Pros: Competitive international rates. No monthly fee. No minimum usage. USF based on a percentage.

Cons: No control of billing. Must pay by automatic credit card charge.

Summary: I had a domestic long distance plan with a $3 monthly fee, but I use my mobile phone for domestic long distance. The international long distance was a bonus. I call Denmark once a month (I was using a calling card) and the voice quality and speed of completion as been very good.

I haven't had any reason to test their customer service.

Inconsistent

Overall Rating:
3 out of 5
By: sam starr on Tuesday, July 10, 2007
From: BH, MI (United States)
Experience: 1 Years
Pros: Polite staff.

Cons: Quality on international calls is terrible sometimes and clear at others.

Summary: Phone Service can be unobtainable at times. Not consistent on international calls (which I call mostly). OK for within US but would not recommend for international business calling.

Pros: works well from home phone and being able to use it on my cell phones is really nice

Cons: the connections are not consistent and sound quality is poor on the cell phones

Summary: since this is my first international service I am not sure of what the quality should be. But I am able to make the calls I need though sometimes I have to call back many times cause of lost connection.

feedback

Overall Rating:
3.5 out of 5
By: Jeff Herbic on Tuesday, June 19, 2007
From: Yuma, AZ (United States)
Experience: 90 Days
Pros: good to have a cheap calling plan for international useage.

Cons: not being able to name this company from the phone company's list of available carriers and having to go third party is very inconvenient.

Summary: I like this company, and the service provided, but wish the phone company would have you guys listed as an approved provider and not have to go through the third party process of obtaining you as a carrier, it would be easier to switch more customers over to you if you were easier to reach.

Why should international users buy 3U Telecom

Overall Rating:
5 out of 5
By: john wieder on Tuesday, June 05, 2007
From: port arthur , TX (United States)
Experience: 4 Weeks
Pros: No connect fees, can sign up cell phones

Cons: None noted

Summary: They fill my needs in the best way possible. I tried phone cards and they were a rip off. The one second billing is great because when your party is not there, there is not a connect fee and it only takes a few seconds to say thanks and I will call back then. This should be at least 30 words.

Fraudulent calls check your bills

Overall Rating:
2.8 out of 5
By: s t on Monday, June 04, 2007
From: princeton, NJ (United States)
Experience: 1 Years
Pros: Signed up & stayed for the low rates.

Cons: Credit card automatically charged stopped checking bill. Found I was paying for many fraudulent calls since October.Had to scan my bills for fraudulent numbers & threaten them before credits given

Summary: Please check your bills.
They apologized to me & said the carrier had a problem & they had rectified the problem.
However, next month's bill had the same problem( I checked the bill this time)
If it shows up this month I will report them to FCC.

3U Telecom 4.8

Overall Rating:
3 out of 5
By: Stephanie Drotos on Monday, June 04, 2007
From: Columbus, OH (United States)
Experience: 60 Days
Pros: Easy to pay, inexpensive

Cons: sound quality for international calls is a bit muffled, sometimes my calls don't go through and I have to redial

Summary: This is the cheapest way I've found to call Guatemala! When I've used calling cards, I've had so many fees and taxes added on that they actually were more expensive than this one. (Even the ones which claimed it was 3 cents a minute!)

Apps: OrbLive 2.0 released in App Store, enables hi-speed live TV

    Updated iPhone live TV app

Lots of great stuff happening for iPhone and iPod Touch users this week. The latest from Orb is no exception. But let's face it: The real star of the show is being able to watch live television streamed from your own computer to that...

Seriously? Riots?: NYers line up, wait, and get angry over BlackBerry Storm

    Storm Riots in NYC

What ever happened to try before you buy?  Hordes of CrackBerry addicts in New York City braved sub-freezing temperatures to line up before 6am this morning at Verizon stores in hopes of landing a BlackBerry Storm.  Lots of 'em apparently went home (or to the office) cold and angry, as VZW didn't have enough stock to meet the demand. So much for reading reviews and carefully considering new purchases in this time of economic...

Southeast Asia: is mobile web use surpassing wired access?

SE Asia: mobile vs. wired web

The Norwegian creators of the Opera browsers said today that mobile Internet use seems to be surpassing wired access in much of Southeast Asia. And that in some areas, it's the standard means of access, rather than the alternative. You can check out their monthly State of the Mobile Web report here. The geographic snapshot from October happens to focus on Southeast Asia; something I didn't know about when I wrote a piece on the market...

Pros: quick and easy picture taking, video capture, plays music without opening the flip, stereo bluetooth, useful external touch screen, sleek design, nice materials.  Cons: price, no music in the background. Storm: Verdict? Disappointing

I really, really want to like Verizon's new BlackBerry Storm.  I want to love it.  Why?  Well, competition is good, and in the year and a half since the original iPhone launched, no other phone has been able to match the performance of its touchscreen or Web browser.  HTC's Touch Pro and G1, and Samsung's Epix and Eternity have impressed me as of late, but none of these devices offers the fingers-on touchscreen experience of...
