3U Telecaom Review

Overall Rating:

By: shoyab panchbhaya on Friday, September 08, 2006
From: houston, TX (United States)
Experience: 60 Days
Pros: Great domestic and international rates. One cent billing. Decent sound quality.

Cons: Occasional international line static or delay.

Summary: This has been a great switch for me. I was totally overpaying for long distance with one of the major carriers. Having this service is as cost-effective as a prepaid calling card without the hassle of having to buy or recharge one.

By: Sangiahnadar Dharmarajan on Thursday, August 03, 2006
From: San Diego, CA (United States)
Experience: 4 Months
Pros: Very reasonably priced

Cons: Frequent disruptions during call to India.

Summary: We are very satisfied with the domestic call connections, however at times we are not able to connect to India or calls to India are disconnected while we are on line. I hope that they can fix it. Overall I would recommend the services to friends.

Great service

Overall Rating:
3.2 out of 5
By: David Van Bruggen on Monday, July 17, 2006
From: Massillon, Great Lakes (United States)
Experience: 90 Days
Pros: Easy billing...great for international....recommend

Cons: The instate rate for Ohio isn't great, but I make up the difference internationally. Without that I probably wouldn't recommend this service.

Summary: I have had zero issues with this service, less the problem calling long distance in state which was resolved with a simple e-mail to customer service. This problem was taken care of promptly within 24 hours. I would recommend to anyone.

A New View with 3U

Overall Rating:
5 out of 5
By: Nathan Pralle on Thursday, June 29, 2006
From: Sheffield, IA (United States)
Experience: 60 Days
Pros: No monthly minimum charges
No service charges
No federal charges
Great rates!
Quick, friendly customer service
A great referral program
Website access
Easy calling card access

Cons: None so far!

Summary: I ordered 3U service through PhoneDog.com a couple of months ago and it's been nothing but great service since. I had a few problems getting my carrier to switch to 3U and had to talk to a customer rep -- she was great! Friendly, helpful, quick.

Since using it, I've been enamoured. While Sprint gave me great service, it still cost me about $12-14/month even if I didn't make any calls. With 3U, I don't pay anything if I don't call, and the rates are great! Calls to Australia are only 5c/min which is great for those of us with Aussie wives. :)

Happy, happy, happy so far is all I can say about this experience. Highly recommended.

3U Telecom

Overall Rating:
3.7 out of 5
By: Bonnie Sharpless on Thursday, June 08, 2006
From: Kearney, MO (United States)
Experience: 2 Months
Pros: Inexpensive!

Cons: None so far.

Summary: We have saved a lot of money already by switching to 3U Telecom. Since we are only charged for what we actually use, without any monthly service fee, we are seeing significant savings. The per-second billing makes a difference, too, although I don't think it's that much.

Experience: 90 Days
Pros: VERY UNEXPENSIVE, PERFECT CONNECTION TO INTERNATIONAL CONNECTIONS

Cons: WHEN I TRIED TO REACH CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR A QUESTION, IT WAS NOT AN EASY TASK. BUT VERY FRIENDLY SERVICE.

Summary: I'M VERY SATISFIED WITH THE SERVICE THEY HAVE PROVIDED SO FAR, THEIR INTERNATIONAL RATES ARE HARD TO BEAT.

    Updated iPhone live TV app

Lots of great stuff happening for iPhone and iPod Touch users this week. The latest from Orb is no exception. But let's face it: The real star of the show is being able to watch live television streamed from your own computer to that...

Seriously? Riots?: NYers line up, wait, and get angry over BlackBerry Storm

    Storm Riots in NYC

What ever happened to try before you buy?  Hordes of CrackBerry addicts in New York City braved sub-freezing temperatures to line up before 6am this morning at Verizon stores in hopes of landing a BlackBerry Storm.  Lots of 'em apparently went home (or to the office) cold and angry, as VZW didn't have enough stock to meet the demand. So much for reading reviews and carefully considering new purchases in this time of economic...

Southeast Asia: is mobile web use surpassing wired access?

SE Asia: mobile vs. wired web

The Norwegian creators of the Opera browsers said today that mobile Internet use seems to be surpassing wired access in much of Southeast Asia. And that in some areas, it's the standard means of access, rather than the alternative. You can check out their monthly State of the Mobile Web report here. The geographic snapshot from October happens to focus on Southeast Asia; something I didn't know about when I wrote a piece on the market...

    Mini-Review: Motorola Rapture

Pros: quick and easy picture taking, video capture, plays music without opening the flip, stereo bluetooth, useful external touch screen, sleek design, nice materials.  Cons: price, no music in the background. The Rapture has those grooved metal buttons that can be found on the Motozine. There are two contextual buttons, but none of the fancy LED color changes of the ZN5. Storm: Verdict? Disappointing

I really, really want to like Verizon's new BlackBerry Storm.  I want to love it.  Why?  Well, competition is good, and in the year and a half since the original iPhone launched, no other phone has been able to match the performance of its touchscreen or Web browser.  HTC's Touch Pro and G1, and Samsung's Epix and Eternity have impressed me as of late, but none of these devices offers the fingers-on touchscreen experience of...
