Opex residential long distance service

Overall Rating:
2.7 out of 5
By: ra marks on Saturday, April 12, 2008
From: york township, IL (United States)
Experience: 2 Years
Pros: none.

Cons: After this company moved their offices to the west coast (from northwest chicagoland) the trouble started. to my objections, they continued to charge my account a municipal tax for the town my post office is located in. i told them five times i did NOT live in that town, going as far as faxing them a copy of my real estate tax bill and changing the billing address town name to my "un-incorporated area" name. all of this for less than seven dollars; but it is the principal. now, i get daily recor

Summary: I would advise you, if you live in a non-incorporated area, to get telephone service from someone that understands that your 5 digit zip code has no bearing on who gets a share of your real estate taxes.

Pros: So far the service has been most efficient to sign up and service itself works well.

Cons: None

Summary: I was looking for a long distance service that was inexpensive and made a search online. Came across Opex. Signed up online. Long distance service was made available and seems to be working quite well. We are very pleased. Everything is most efficient.

Opex

Overall Rating:
4.8 out of 5
By: Wayne Minter on Tuesday, March 18, 2008
From: Marshall, TX (United States)
Experience: 3 Months
Summary: We have been very satisfied with OPEX service and quality. All calls sound very good with no static. it would be nice if our number would show up on the Caller ID. There have been some calls not taken. They think it's a salesman or someone wanting money. All in all I've not been disappointed at all.

Tread carefully

Overall Rating:
1.3 out of 5
By: Dave Bliss on Wednesday, March 12, 2008
From: Packwood, WA (United States)
Experience: 15 Years
Cons: Horrible customer service

Summary: After 15 years with never a late payment this company or the USPO lost one of my checks that was mailed on time. They suspended my service on the day I found out about it($21.45)and their awful customer service refused to do anything about it. I took my business elsewhere and would never recommend them to anyone. Over the 15 years I had hundreds of fax charges charged to my phone even though I had no fax machine connected. The number used to belong to another company and I was charged for all the wrong number calls.

Pros: Number comes up Unknown name unknown number

Summary: I like your telephone service and rates-- What I don't like is that you don't identify the number and name on Caller ID My daughter sometimes refuses to answer because she doesn't know that its me calling.

Terrible Service

Overall Rating:
1.5 out of 5
By: ruby blue on Monday, February 25, 2008
From: newington, NH (United States)
Experience: 4 Years
Pros: Cheap rates

Cons: Terrible, horrible, rude customer service.
Frequent international disconnections.

Summary: After using this service for over 5 years, my phone was suddenly and inexplicably disconnected without any notice. After many frustrating calls to OPEX and the assurance that I would be re-connected (ridiculously enough, it would take them a week!), I was still without service after 2 weeks. I just placed my final call to them to say I wanted to completely discontinue my relationship with the company. The operator said, "oh, you've already been disconnected, so ok."...this the response after years of getting my business??? She never offered an apology or attempted to keep my business. She couldn't have cared less. I will never recommend this company again.

The Best Value in VoIP

Overall Rating:
4.3 out of 5
By: T Bowman on Friday, February 08, 2008
From: Arlington, TX (United States)
Experience: 3 Months
Pros: The quality is good, but features and overall value is outstanding!

Cons: Getting voicemail setup was initially challenging but now works well. The server response is often too slow, resulting in a frustrating online experience when making changes to the service or account.

Summary: I have three home telephone lines. Service to all three lines was provided by a digital cable company. When the monthly base rate per line increased to $39.95, I decided to look at some alternatives. I switched one line to Phonedog, another to a major Bell carrier and the third to another VoIP company. Phonedog is the most feature-rich and easily managed but least expensive of the three. I'll be switching my other VoIP line to Phonedog as soon as my minimum commitment is satisfied.
