Pioneer 2.7

Overall Rating:
2 out of 5
By: Joanna R. on Wednesday, May 07, 2008
From: Jacksonville, FL (United States)
Experience: 90 Days
Pros: Cheap rates

Cons: Substandard voice quality, fades in and out

Summary: Have had a problem with voice quality fading in and out. Also, I tried to enter the access code for a conference call and the conference call service could not detect the digits entered. No one else on the call had a problem, and I had to use my cellphone to participate in the call.

Pioneer 2.7 Rate Buster Review

Overall Rating:
5 out of 5
By: Robin WELSH on Wednesday, May 07, 2008
From: Alexandria, VA (United States)
Experience: 9 Months
Pros: Low rate. Easy to setup. I receive an email each month that notifies me of my charges.

Cons: Have to go to site to pull up call details.

Summary: The main reason I decided to look for a new carrier was cost. Pioneer offered me a great rate for the calls I make. I usually don't make many, so I was looking for a carrier that would not charge me an arm and a leg for those calls or a monthly flat fee. The whole process was very easy to do online. I would recommend Pioneer to anyone.

Pioneer Long Distance

Overall Rating:
4 out of 5
By: Shannon Brogan on Wednesday, May 07, 2008
From: River Falls, WI (United States)
Experience: 8 Weeks
Pros: Inexpensive, no monthly charge, just what you use

Cons: A slight lag time in connecting and when I move I will probably not be able to keep the service with a small local carrier.

Summary: I have had the service only two months, but I have yet to receive a debit bill, since the initial charge of $10.00 is still not used up the credit applied. I like the convenience of low costs and no long numbers to input with the credit card I was using.

Cons: Now my mom calls all the time!

Seriously, no drawbacks.

Summary: Easy to switch, easy to keep.

Pioneer Rate Buster: service and great rates

Overall Rating:
5 out of 5
By: J T Nash on Monday, April 28, 2008
From: Las Vegas, NM (United States)
Experience: 4 Months
Pros: Service has been excellent and personal on any questions. Long Distance rates are excellent

Cons: None so far; I wish Pioneer could be our local provider,

Summary: After bad service and high charges from Qwest we looked for a new long distance carrier that would help us on our small volume of LD calls. Within days we were changed over--seamless at this end. We could not get a calling card from Qwest, or setup for LD calls while traveling; Pioneer did it quickly and clearly in one phone call. The real person on the phone, back in Maine, was totally helpful, and this is rare today. Very good plan, at least for us, with real service and low prices: highly recommended

Seriously? Riots?: NYers line up, wait, and get angry over BlackBerry Storm

    Storm Riots in NYC

What ever happened to try before you buy?  Hordes of CrackBerry addicts in New York City braved sub-freezing temperatures to line up before 6am this morning at Verizon stores in hopes of landing a BlackBerry Storm.  Lots of 'em apparently went home (or to the office) cold and angry, as VZW didn't have enough stock to meet the demand. So much for reading reviews and carefully considering new purchases in this time of economic...

Southeast Asia: is mobile web use surpassing wired access?

SE Asia: mobile vs. wired web

The Norwegian creators of the Opera browsers said today that mobile Internet use seems to be surpassing wired access in much of Southeast Asia. And that in some areas, it's the standard means of access, rather than the alternative. You can check out their monthly State of the Mobile Web report here. Storm: Verdict? Disappointing

I really, really want to like Verizon's new BlackBerry Storm.  I want to love it.  Why?  Well, competition is good, and in the year and a half since the original iPhone launched, no other phone has been able to match the performance of its touchscreen or Web browser.  HTC's Touch Pro and G1, and Samsung's Epix and Eternity have impressed me as of late, but none of these devices offers the fingers-on touchscreen experience of...
