From: arroyo hondo, NM (United States)
Experience: 90 Days
Pros: Very cheap, real helpful people answer when you call, no glitches as far as I can tell since getting hooked up. Getting hooked up as I remember ran into a snag or two.

Cons: None so far.

Summary: Everything I have to say is above

Pioneer Long distance

Overall Rating:
3.8 out of 5
By: Erin Hauswirth on Friday, April 18, 2008
From: Gainesville, FL (United States)
Experience: 2 Months
Pros: So far they have kept their part of the bargain by keeping costs down. The small print however said htat if I missed a payment the rates would go up. Incentive to pay ontime.

Cons: Their billing is a little confusing at least at first but I'm getting used to it.

Summary: I think it's worthwhile shopping around for long distance carriers. I think this one uses Sprint but so far it seems to work for me.

From: Spencer, IN (United States)
Experience: 3 Months
Pros: Excellent Value!

Cons: None so far!

Summary: I'm very pleased with the service I receive. The quality is excellent and the online statements convenient. When I had to travel recently for my job, I was able to use the phone card you sent to make calls which was an added plus.

Pioneer 2.7 Rate Buster

Overall Rating:
5 out of 5
By: Mr. Ali on Monday, April 14, 2008
From: Silver Springs, MD (United States)
Experience: 2 Years
Pros: Easy to set up. Monthly update of usage via email.

Cons: None

Summary: I am putting in a plug here for Pioneers' good service. I have been using them since March 2006 and have no complaints. I initially set up long distance with them because I needed to have a dial tone for my DSL service and home alarm system and Verizon's cheapest long distance rate was $3.99/mo + cost of call. Well, I use my cell phone as my main phone so an extra $4 an month seemed crazy, its' bad enough I was paying Verizon $12/mo just to have a dial tone. Pioneer saved me money since even though I don't use my home phone much, I do make the occasional call and being in MD close to DC sometimes calls less than a mile away are considered long distance. Anyway long story short Pioneer gave me a $10 credit and two years later I still have $3.26 remaining.

Pioneer 2.7 Rate Buster

Overall Rating:
4.7 out of 5
By: Andrea Hooten on Friday, April 11, 2008
From: Little Rock, AR (United States)
Experience: 2 Months
Pros: Easy to sign up and the rates truly do save me money.

Cons: There haven't been any cons yet, as I can tell.

Summary: Pioneer 2.7 Rate Buster was very easy to sign up for , and the savings I've already experienced is so worth it. I get the bills online and pay them with a credit card, or I have the option of mailing in a check if I want. They break down all the calls I made so I can itemize on my tax return. I definitely recommend it.

Long Distance Service

Overall Rating:
3 out of 5
By: Ann Magennis on Tuesday, April 08, 2008
From: Fort Collins, CO (United States)
Experience: 45 Days
Pros: It's an affordable rate for long distance that I can use on my land line.... little chance of disconnects, and the sound is so much more clear than what is on cell phones!

Cons: Can't easily see the bill -- where the calls went to, how long they lasted, and how much they cost.

Summary: This is a long distance service that is inexpensive and I find the quality to be fairly good, so far. Getting access to the bills has proved to be a bit of a problem as logging on has been nearly impossible. We shall see what happens with that as time goes on.

Pioneer 2.7 Rate Buster a Blast

Overall Rating:
5 out of 5
By: Dave S. on Tuesday, April 08, 2008
From: Mardela Springs, MD (United States)
Experience: 3 Months
Pros: No minimum per month.
Inexpensive Long Distance.
Great customer service.

Cons: None.

Summary: I used to pay a minimum monthly fee even if I didn't use that much long distance, but with Pioneer's Rate Buster plan, if you use one minute per month, that is all you pay for.
I don't make many long distance calls, so after three months, the initial $10.00 credit card charge still has a $6.06 credit left!
I love it!
My mother was using AT&T long distance and paying $40.00 - $50.00 every three months. I switched her over to Pioneer's Rate Buster plan, and after two months she still has a $6.81 credit left from her initial $10.00 charge.
This is great!
I had to call them to let them know the PIC freeze was off my phone (and my mother's) when I originally switched, and both times a live person (who could help me) answered the phone in the first three or four rings - no hold, no selecting from menu choices - and took care of it right away. Great Service!
Thank you Pioneer for a great experience!

Set up of Pioneer

Overall Rating:
3 out of 5
By: Don Dean on Saturday, April 05, 2008
From: Crestwood, KY (United States)
Experience: 30 Days
Pros: Low price; no minimum monthly fee

Cons: haven't had service long enough to see

Summary: They did not notify me when my local carrier failed to make the switch to their service; I was billed by Pioneer to be sure my credit card worked, so thought I was set up; however, the change was not made without me making all the contacts and trying to find out the problem.

Apps: OrbLive 2.0 released in App Store, enables hi-speed live TV

    Updated iPhone live TV app

Lots of great stuff happening for iPhone and iPod Touch users this week. The latest from Orb is no exception. Seriously? Riots?: NYers line up, wait, and get angry over BlackBerry Storm

    Storm Riots in NYC

What ever happened to try before you buy?  Hordes of CrackBerry addicts in New York City braved sub-freezing temperatures to line up before 6am this morning at Verizon stores in hopes of landing a BlackBerry Storm.  Lots of 'em apparently went home (or to the office) cold and angry, as VZW didn't have enough stock to meet the demand. So much for reading reviews and carefully considering new purchases in this time of economic...

Southeast Asia: is mobile web use surpassing wired access?

SE Asia: mobile vs. wired web

The Norwegian creators of the Opera browsers said today that mobile Internet use seems to be surpassing wired access in much of Southeast Asia. And that in some areas, it's the standard means of access, rather than the alternative. You can check out their monthly State of the Mobile Web report here. Storm: Verdict? Disappointing

I really, really want to like Verizon's new BlackBerry Storm.  I want to love it.  Why?  Well, competition is good, and in the year and a half since the original iPhone launched, no other phone has been able to match the performance of its touchscreen or Web browser.  HTC's Touch Pro and G1, and Samsung's Epix and Eternity have impressed me as of late, but none of these devices offers the fingers-on touchscreen experience of...
