Unitel 2.5 service plan

Overall Rating:
4 out of 5
By: Steven Staley on Tuesday, October 23, 2007
From: Indianapolis, IN (United States)
Experience: 3 Months
Pros: inexpensive; on-line bill pay allows no monthly service charge

Cons: none so far

Summary: I have had no complaints since signing up for this service. My long distance phone bill has went down and the on-line bill pay is very easy to use and since I went paperless there is no monthly service charge which is another great feature.

Changeover from Global Crossing to Qwest

Overall Rating:
1 out of 5
By: Patricia Stoll on Monday, September 17, 2007
From: Colorado Springs, CO (United States)
Experience: 2 Years
Pros: Cheap when it works.

Cons: Unprofessional, no one at home minding the store, 2 months behind in billing, if you have problems over the weekend no way to even leave a message.

Summary: I've given up and changed my father's long distance carrier. Not everyone has a regular computer to pay their bills. He pays by check. Unitel is over 2 months behind on their bills. They didn't send out any notification of this last change and just turned my 80-yr old father's long distance off and left it up to him to figure out what's wrong. Very unprofessional, uncaring, just plain WRONG!

HATEFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE

Overall Rating:
1 out of 5
By: Ronna Bridges on Monday, August 27, 2007
From: Charleston, SC (United States)
Experience: 4 Years
Cons: Unprofessional Don't-Care-Attitude

Summary: I was charged $3 in error a few months ago because I had a paperless bill, and they charged me for having a paper bill. They credited my account, but I just got a bill for .07 and asked them very nicely via email twice and one the phone one time (they have limited business hours) if they would please credit my account for the .07 -- I had no idea how I was going to send them a check for .07. They reluctantly credited my account and said that was the LAST credit they were giving me. SEVEN CENTS!!! I only had Unitel because of the phone card when traveling outside the US. I rarely used Unitel. No one there, including email, uses a name so you have no idea who you are talking with. I had to ask to whom was I talking with. The email person never emailed me back with his/her name. I tried to talk to a supervisor, but they gave me the 3rd degree - as if they were too busy or could care less about talking with me. She was as cold as ice. Needless to say, I closed my account and am writing the president of the company. Maybe he cares about Unitel's customers. Maybe not, since they don't bother to train their customer service people. They treated me like dirt, and were VERY unpleasant and unprofessional. I will never use them again, even if I have to pay 5x more in long-distance charges. If they had just credited the .07 like I requested in the first email I sent them they would still have me as a customer, and I would not be writing this as well as telling all of my friends NOT to use Unitel.

Love them!!

Overall Rating:
5 out of 5
By: H B on Wednesday, August 01, 2007
From: Logan, UT (United States)
Experience: 18 Months
Pros: Great Customer service! Awesome Rates even international

Cons: none

Summary: When I switched numbers I thought my long distance would be moved automatically. It wasn't and my bill went to $36 instead of $7 with Unitel. They have been great to work with. I can't say enough good about them. Oh, my parents and I both called Bulgaria..my phone bill was $8 for a 17 minute call my parents was over $90! When calling international it was as if I was talking to someone next door. I now tell my friends to switch!

Basic Service

Overall Rating:
4 out of 5
By: B C on Saturday, June 16, 2007
From: Chicago, IL (United States)
Experience: 2 Months
Summary: The rate was good enough for me to stop using a calling card which charges .05 cents per minute. The change over was easy enough. It took a couple billing cycles for my local service provider to drop charges from the previous intra- and inter-state long distance provider (my fault - laziness.) Otherwise everything is smooth and there are no issues with the service.

From: Anderson, SC (United States)
Experience: 2 Months
Pros: So far, completely satisfied

Cons: None

Summary: I have been using this service for approximately two months. I do not have many long distance phone calls to make from my land phone. I will use it more after I use up the time that I have left on my prepaid phone card that I purchased prior to ordering Uni-Tel long distance service.

    Updated iPhone live TV app

Lots of great stuff happening for iPhone and iPod Touch users this week. The latest from Orb is no exception. Seriously? Riots?: NYers line up, wait, and get angry over BlackBerry Storm

    Storm Riots in NYC

What ever happened to try before you buy?  Hordes of CrackBerry addicts in New York City braved sub-freezing temperatures to line up before 6am this morning at Verizon stores in hopes of landing a BlackBerry Storm.  Lots of 'em apparently went home (or to the office) cold and angry, as VZW didn't have enough stock to meet the demand. So much for reading reviews and carefully considering new purchases in this time of economic...

SE Asia: mobile vs. wired web

    Storm: Verdict? Disappointing

I really, really want to like Verizon's new BlackBerry Storm.  I want to love it.  Why?  Well, competition is good, and in the year and a half since the original iPhone launched, no other phone has been able to match the performance of its touchscreen or Web browser.  HTC's Touch Pro and G1, and Samsung's Epix and Eternity have impressed me as of late, but none of these devices offers the fingers-on touchscreen experience of...
