SE Satio sales stopped
As if finanical issues weren't enough to worry about, Sony Ericsson's flagship device is causing trouble at two UK-based phone retailers. Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U have halted sales of the Sony Ericsson Satio handset due to high customer complaints and returns. Billed as a "software glitch," the phone is reportedly powering down when certain applications are accessed. According to those familiar with the matter, the issue...Blog Article
HP iPAQ Glisten launches
After sitting here for five minutes in an attempt to create some sort of catchy introduction with the model name and the article, I think I'll just run with it. AT&T and HP today announced the iPAQ Glisten, a 3G device that offers Windows Mobile 6.5, an AMOLED display (the first smartphone on AT&T to offer one, in fact), full QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi, 3.5mm headphone jack, and 3.1-megapixel camera. The Glisten will cost...Video

Black Friday, Pt. 2 - Best Buy
The Black Friday deals continue, with Best Buy's doorbuster deals. Opening at 5 AM, Best Buy plans to offer the Palm Pre for $79.99 and the LG Chocolate Touch for free out the door. While speculation centers around retail locations stocking five and seven Pre and Chocolate Touch devices resectively, the aforementioned numbers refer to minimum stock, not maximum (see the pictures above). Still, it's worth getting to the store...Blog Article
T-Mobile offering up deals
In the spirit of Black Friday and the shopping weekend that surrounds it, T-Mobile is heating up the stakes by discounting three popular devices. The nation's fourth largest wireless carrier will offer the Motorola CLIQ and BlackBerry Bold 9700 for $149.99 (both after $50 off), and the Samsung Highlight for $49.99 after $50 off. Of course, all require new two-year agreements. What's more, with the new Even More Plus option,...Blog Article
iPhone girl on Droid: Features
When it comes to smartphones, a handset’s features can vary a lot depending on the apps you choose to download. Given this, I chose to focus more on the major built-in features of the Droid. (Once again, this review and the previous parts of it were written with the average consumer and his/her usability in mind as the priority.) Phone Calls: I wonder why so many reviews treat the number-one phone feature like an after-thought? So...Blog Article
iPhone girl on Droid: Design
Sometimes I’m surprised by the number of people who choose phones based on looks. I shouldn’t be — I used to do the same thing. Actually, I still do, to some extent. If a phone has everything I want and need, but looks like a cellular version of Ugly Betty, I’m probably not going to haul that around for long. But does that make us superficial? Perhaps. Or maybe we’re not so wrong in this after all, since the form...Blog Article
iPhone girl on Droid: The OS
Thanks to Best Buy Mobile (who has been supplying some of the devices we get to review), I got my hands on the Motorola Droid and have been playing with it for a couple weeks. So what follows are some of my impressions of the phone, strictly from the point of view of a person newly coming into this platform. At times, there may be an iPhone bent because, well, I can’t help but compare this to my own handset. Plus, those...Blog Article
iPhone girl on Droid: Preface
Before I start, let me just say that I love my phone. Sure, the iPhone’s not perfect, and you may see me kvetch about its closed nature, baffling App Store approvals or hobbled features (tethering, anyone?), but in the end, I still love this handset. Lately though, with all the Android news bursting at the seams, I went beyond the Apple beat and pitched in to help cover it for PhoneDog.Wow, Android was like a strange land. Open source? Non...Blog Article
HTC offers $100 incentive
All holiday shopping estimates are pointing to smartphones as the device of choice, and like any manufacturer, HTC wants to get in on the action. The company is offering a $100 check (via mail) to anyone that purchases an eligible HTC smartphone from Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile. Purchase the smartphone. The Tilt, Touch Pro2, Imagio, and Ozone are all eligible handsets. Once purchased, enter the promotional code at the...Blog Article
Aaron's Top Five Pt. 1 - 2009
Quite regularly, I'm asked a question considered by many in this world to be relatively straightforward: "what cell phone do you use?" Despite the simplicity of the statement, responding is hard. This week, I carried the Bold and iPhone. Last week, I carried the Bold and Hero. The week before that, I carried the Bold and Storm2. In early October, I carried the Bold and Tour. You get the idea. It changes...Blog Article
BlackBerry Bold 9700 at AT&T
After a week on the nation's fourth largest wireless carrier, the BlackBerry Bold 9700 is able to call AT&T's retail store shelves home. Cosmetically, few things have changed from the T-Mobile version with the exception of a new logo (obviously), different 3G bands, and a different OS build. The BlackBerry Bold 9700 is available to customers for $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and new two-year customer agreement. BlackBerry...Video
