Seriously? Riots?: NYers line up, wait, and get angry over BlackBerry Storm

Seriously? Riots?: NY'ers line up, wait, and get angry over BlackBerry Storm

What ever happened to try before you buy?  Hordes of CrackBerry addicts in New York City braved sub-freezing temperatures to line up before 6am this morning at Verizon stores in hopes of landing a BlackBerry Storm.  Lots of 'em apparently went home (or to the office) cold and angry, as VZW didn't have enough stock to meet the demand. So much for reading reviews and carefully considering new purchases in this time of economic...
More on Storm: Verdict? Disappointing

More on Storm: Verdict? Disappointing

I really, really want to like Verizon's new BlackBerry Storm.  I want to love it.  Why?  Well, competition is good, and in the year and a half since the original iPhone launched, no other phone has been able to match the performance of its touchscreen or Web browser.  HTC's Touch Pro and G1, and Samsung's Epix and Eternity have impressed me as of late, but none of these devices offers the fingers-on touchscreen experience of...

Mini-Review: 10 Hours with the BlackBerry Storm

Mini-Review: 10 Hours with the BlackBerry Storm

I've had my BlackBerry Storm review loaner for about 10 hours now.  I've spent that time unboxing it, typing on it, browsing the Web, searching for GPS-enabled directions, and watching video on it.  I also had to take care of a few other things during those 10 hours, so I actually haven't been able to pound on Storm quite as much as I'd like to have.  But the embargo is lifting and you're anxious to know what I think of the...

G2: More on the maybe (?) next Android phone from T-Mo and HTCG

You know the drill.  It's a RUMOR.  But it's from a reliable source and it's a follow up to something s/he sent me a month or so ago.  So I'm gonna post it and let you decide whether or not to believe it.  Take it with a whole can of Morton's Salt, as the saying goes. If you believe the rumor, the next Android phone released on a US carrier will be made by HTC and released by T-Mobile during the first half of...

Not Credit: T-Mobile launching installment payment plan for equipment?

According to TmoNews, T-Mobile is prepping an "equipment installment plan" that will let its customers pay for new handsets and accessories over time instead of all in one shot, as is the norm these days.  The plan apparently will not be a traditional credit-lending deal, and won't carry any sort of APR or interest.  Rather, T-Mo will let qualified customers spread up to $500 in purchases out over several months and pay as they...

Noah Answers Your Questions - When can I have the Touch HD?

Q.Hey Noah, Love the work that you do. I was just wondering if you heard any whispers when the Touch HD will be coming to the US and if so which carrier. From the stuff I've seen I love it but if the wait is too long (say over 6 months) I'll just settle for the Touch Pro. Thanks! A. I'm amped up about the Touch HD, as well.  So far there's no word - or even whispering - about a US carrier.  I know HTC is interested in bringing...

Noah Answers Your Questions - Can the iPhone 3G stay "new and fun"?

Q. Hey Noah, love the site.  Now if I got the Apple iPhone 3G, my Question is will it stay new and fun and not seem outdated after 2 years. I tend to get bored of phones after a little over a year.  Thank you for your time. Keep up the good work on PhoneDog! A. I think iPhone will stay new and fun because of the App Store - there are new programs available for it every day, and since many of them are free, it's an easy way to make...

Noah Answers Your Questions - Omnia or iPhone?

Q. Noah, I was extremmely close to buying the iPhone until I saw the Samsung Omnia in your video. looks tight. how cool is it and is it up to par with the beast made by Apple? A. Noah Answers Your Questions - T9 on the Instinct?

Q. Noah, you have very informative videos and think that you are great at your job. I have a question about Sprint's Samsung Instinct. I am fairly efficient with a QWERTY keypad, but I am so much faster on a T9 layout. Is the Samsung Instinct capable of a T9 text entry? Noah Answers Your Questions - Comparing the LG Dare & Samsung Instinct

Q. Hi, I saw your comparisons of the LG Dare and Samsung Instinct and I had some more questions about the two. I have some specific questions for the two phones that I'd like some answers to 1. Re: G2: More on the maybe (?) next Android phone from T-Mo and HTCG

Like I said, it's just rumor right now, but it comes from a reliable source with a good track record - esp. with T-Mobile devices. No idea what the time frame might be, except for "2009." My best guess would be sometime around CTIA in April, but that's just a guess. Still, it's very promising, right?

Better Berry: T-Mobile Updates BlackBerry Curve OS

T-Mobile smartphone users are gettin' all the love this week.  First came reports that G1s are being delivered across the land to folks who pre-ordered.  Now we get wind of an OS 4.5 upgrade for users of the T-Mobile BlackBerry Curve.  The upgrade, which is available as a free over-the-air update for owners of the T-Mobile Curve 8320, includes support for video capture, HTML Email, Email attachments, and myFaves 1.5 (mostly has to...

@Buckys.Fan: The T919 is the T-Mobile USA version of the Tocco, with Quad Band GSM, T-Mobile specific 3G (AWS) frequencies, and other T-Mobile specific features/branding. @ sleepy and pdusk: Technically I'm under NDA so I can't say what I saw the other day. But this phone looks as good as anything I've seen or heard about coming to T-Mobile, yes. Whether you'd rather have this or Dream or BlackBerry may more come down to personal...

Re: HOT: T-Mobile's Best Phone Ever Coming by Year's End

It's not an HTC or BlackBerry. So far as I know, those are still on tap and coming to T-Mo -- and may well be better than this one in some people's eyes -- but I'm talking about something different, and it's the best all-around T-Mo device I've ever seen or heard of. So long as you're not a BlackBerry user, that is. As soon as I can say more I will ;-)

Re: What's the Best Phone: Dare vs Voyager vs iPhone

@John: I can't get a good 3G signal on iPhone at my house - I get a strong voice signal and a strong EDGE signal no problem. I also have WiFi at my house, so the 3G doesn't matter - I can make calls fine via 2G and use the WiFi for data. Actually, my personal phone is a first-gen iPhone so it's EDGE-only, anyway. In any event, I can make calls and use the data just fine for getting stuff done. Sorry if that wasn't clear.
