The T-Mobile myTouch 3G with Google will be available for pre-order on July 8th. I plan to be one of the first in the queue. The only problem is that I haven't decided on the only option.
I'm not saying I'll go with the winning color here, but I'm curious what you all think. Merlot is the most distinctive, but white looks clean and flashy. Black is sleek and classy, and won't show grime. Maybe I should just plan on not getting my phone grimy.

Yes it is similar to the iphone, i am actually very accurate and fast on my iphone on screen keyboard and played with the on screen keyboard of the G1 the other day and was just as fast and accurate.
White plastic looks cheap, and black looks less so. If the phone cover were another material, white works. Forget the maroon color. You'll tire of it, as you said. I'm getting a black one, as soon as I determine when and if the Hero is coming to Tmo.
I think I'm going to go with the votes and go for black. My wife wants me to get that one, and I think it's the least likely to result in regret. Merlot is cool, but I could get sick of it quick. White just might be too bright for app reviews.
Merlot. Becuase its uniquie and i really like the color. Plus it has a nice silver rim going around the sides like on the black and white versions but the silver for me looks better with red. So Merlot.
I would say the dark blue that was on the google ion, how depressing that that is not one avaible for the mytouch. but im going with the red, i like to be different from everyone else.

I saw that option a while back for the G1 but there are 2 many sides on the G1 with the slide out qwerty so i thinks thats what made it so expensive. I think the My touch would be cheaper to resurface by them, you should check it out. If not you may see me do it lol.
i suggest the black the opposition of white because everyone has already seen the white phone in action that lives in the United Kingdom and its more flashy and clean so it would be a lot harder to see any scratches made and stuff. The red is unique but seems a bit girlish. I really like the black one the most, but to be honest I'm kinda hoping to wait out the samsung galaxy. That phone has everything.
i like the red because its differnt and stands out + its 1 of my fav colors but i dont care 4 the white version because like u said it could get grime or sumthin on it
