Has Apple booked WWDC?
San Francisco’s Moscone West convention center has been booked from June 28 to July 2, under the vague-sounding slot called "Corporate Event." Apple watchers know that June has typically been the month of iPhone announcements, and since the company’s had its WorldWide Developers Conference every June at Moscone West over the last few years, you’ve got to know that this is setting some tongues wagging. The original iPhone...Blog Article
Verizon answers FCC inquiry
So Big Red had some ‘splaining to do, and recently had to cough up a few answers for a FCC inquiry. The commission wanted to know more about the early termination fee levied on smartphone users, who were singled out for higher fees (up to $350) for breaking two-year contracts. And even if they were just one month short of the 24-month term, they would still have to pay $120. It doesn’t take a mind reader to know what the carrier was...Video
LG eXpo’s projector demo
Looking for some projector action? I thought, since AT&T released the LG eXpo a couple weeks ago, we’d be awash in vids demonstrating the phone’s unusual attachment by now. Alas, the accessory’s not available yet, and so the vids aren’t quite bursting at the seams. But don’t despair — it turns out our Northern neighbors have the goods. Canada’s MobileSyrup did a little demo showing off the projector...Blog Article
iPhone is The Icon
The Iconic Smartphone Whose Days May Be Numbered Love it or hate it, Apple's iPhone is one of the five most recognizable pieces of consumer technology of the past five years, and has shaken up the telcom industry like no other product in recent memory. iPhone's rise isn't just about the hardware - not by a long shot. Touchscreen phones existed before iPhone, as did pay-per-download smartphone software and phones that play multimedia files. But...Blog Article
iPhone's Image Problem
A week or so ago, the NY Times ran an article by Randall Stross about iPhone's problem with dropping calls, saying that the problem is in fact with the hardware, and not with AT&T's network. Despite the fact that John Gruber, amongst others, pointed out how full of holes the story was, the story ran in the Times and so many a consumer, businessperson, and non-techie friend of mine took it as truth (I got five, "Did you read that...Blog Article
Sony Ericsson X10 at FCC
Sure, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 got approval by the fine folks at the FCC last week, but this one is a new variant. Lending credence to the possibility of the X10 landing on AT&T at some point in the (we hope) near future, WCDMA 850/1900 MHz is present, along with quadband EDGE. Rogers, Bell, and Telus customers, the introduction of this X10 variant means you could get some Android love in Canada as well. A high-end AT&T...Blog Article
Gift Guide: iPhone accessories

Motorola Backflip surfaces
A clear picture of the Motorola Backflip has surfaced, and as you can see from the the logo on the keyboard, it appears to be headed to AT&T. The MOTOBLUR-equipped Backflip sports quite the unique design, with the keyboard and attached camera (see bottom left hand side) acting as the back of the phone. Think enV3, but imagine the keyboard to be where the camera is. One thing is for sure: It'll certainly be a love or hate...Blog Article
Cancer warnings on cell phones
A Maine representative wants to make the state the first to require a brain cancer warning on wireless phones, despite the fact that there's no conclusive evidence to show that cell phones cause any sort of long-term damage. Maine Rep. Andrea Boland (D-Sanford) claims that numerous studies point to cancer as a long-term effect of utilizing a cell phone, and is asking her colleagues to allow discussion of the proposal in the January 2010...In-Depth Review
Motorola Droid
Overview What's Good: Gorgeous 3.7-inch display and Android 2.0. What's Bad: Battery life is quite poor, and physical keyboard needs improvement. Introduction Despite being a die-hard BlackBerry user, the Motorola DROID excites me. With a large screen, Android 2.0, and a durable form factor, it seems to be a good option, and a welcome addition to Verizon's somewhat ho-hum device lineup. Combine that with an expensive marketing campaign on...Video

Let's petition Digg!
Digg is my favorite user-submitted and controlled social news website. That sounds like a lot of qualifiers but I'm just trying to be descriptive. I am a big fan of Digg. I also like to read quite a bit about Google and Android. Unfortunately, Google doesn't have a their own subcategory under the tech header on the Digg home page. Microsoft and Apple both have their own categories and if you search either of those terms on Digg, you'll find...Blog Article
