Love the OS, hate the phone

Posted on: June 4th, 2010 by david h

The good: Runs Android - great OS. Finally got 2.1 upgrade (although buggy). The bad: Sloooowwwwwww. Pocket dials everyone all the time. Difficult to use as a phone.Summary: Remember when you could call people on your mobile phone? I miss those days. Eris is so doggy slow the phone app delays picking up, or keyboard is delayed when entering conference line codes or deleting VMs. Without a doubt, Verizon has turned a wonderful OS environment into the worst mobile phone experience I've had to date - even worse than the Blackberry Storm (OK, maybe not quite that bad). I'm considering resurrecting my old razor so I can do my job again.

love it

Posted on: March 20th, 2010 by Mary Chesebrough

The good: customization, open source, HTC Sense UIThe bad: Battery life (what's new?)Summary: I've had this phone for about a 3 weeks and love it. I recently upgraded it to Android 2.1 and love it even more. I have a tethering app and have customized it so that my laptop is an accessory to it and NOT vice versa, as this phone has all the functionality of a pc. I have recommended it to a friend who was all set to get the MOTO Droid...he did get the moto droid and then exchanged it for this when he saw what it was made of. I recommend the upgrade, it's simple and makes the most of this phone, sense UI is perfect with 2.1, but out of the box, this phone still rocks and even without the upgrade I was still very happy with it. I'm a geeky girl, love my gadgets and this phone meets my cravings for things that go blip.

Great Phone

Posted on: February 12th, 2010 by Matthew Carey

The good: Sense UIform factorfeelandroid OSGood TrackballThe bad: Battery lifeScreen size could have been 3.5"Summary: Overall, I would take this phone over the Droid. I think that the form factor, and Sense UI really help for the consumer. I think that the Droid, and other Windows Mobile phones that are in the same category are directed for business use. This phone really helps by bringing all the social services together, all in one contact. I think this is the best phone on Verizon, no matter what the cost is.

All kinds of awesome.

The good: Applications, the GREAT virtual keyboard, Sense UI and it's corresponding widgets, call clarity and reception. The bad: Slight lags in performance here and there, battery life could use a smidge of improvementSummary: This phone is awesome. I've had mine for about a month and have no intention on returning it. I use it mostly for music, text messaging, various forms of internetting, and for directions and GPS. Of course, the GPS functionality will be MUCH better once the Eris receives the 2.x Android facelift, but it gets the job done for now with Google Maps and directions. The contact integration with Facebook is quite cool, and the Android application library has a lot of nifty stuff. With this being my second experience with a touch screen smartphone (my first was a Samsung Omnia. Windows Mobile 6.1 is bad news) I am very satisfied after being skeptical for so long. I recommend this phone highly.
