"The One brings change, not more of the same."

There are so many things to like about this phone but what stands out the most in my opinion is the sheer performance. This phone is simple fluid, no hangups, no studders. Android has taken a lot of knocks for its UI performance and this handset easily lays those worries to shame. If the Snapdragon 600 is this fast (give some credit to Sense 5 however) I cannot imagine what the Snapdragon 800 will be capable of! The transitions and animations are simply instant. Applications open up very quickly and returning to the Home screen is prompt. Very impressive.

This display is superlative, as we all pretty much should know by now. Transitioning from my One to my Nexus 7 is now difficult because of the resolution, clarity and brightness. The speakers are good but honestly, not as loud as I expected based on the initial reviews. That said, they are definitely an improvement over rear placed speakers and get the job done.

The camera is satisfactory and as long as you don't need to enlarge your prints, it gets the job done. The Zoetrope mode combined with the ability to make Highlight Videos is truly a gem of a feature. Highlights could be easier to find and manage however.

Sense 5 is a mixed bag. If you are coming from previous version of Sense, they have really gutted it out and it is now missing some functionality. The trade off, obviously, is speed. So you win some and you lose some I suppose. I do miss Sense 4, I will not lie. The keyboard on Sense 5 however, is vastly superior.

The battery stamina is a bit above my expectations. It will last my entire work day (including my train commute) as long as the screen on time stays relatively low. As long as that happens, I can easily get 13-14 hours. If not, it'll drop down to 7-8 hours.

The One is a unique smartphone in that you get the best design and build quality currently available (although the bezels could definitely be smaller a la Galaxy S4) combined with a completely new approach to an Android UI. It is unlike anything we've seen before and change is good.

HTC One Mini Written Review

HTC One Mini Written Review
If you're a fan of the latest flagship devices but aren't necessarily a fan of the size, you might be happy to know that it's been a growing trend lately to include a "mini" version of the same flagship device that we know and love. But of course, with a smaller phone you can probably guess that you will come across some sacrifices made in order to make creating such a device possible. It might be the same device in body, but is it really the same device on the inside that made it a... more...
