Bad GPS

Posted on: January 24th, 2015 by Raul

Ever since I bought the G2 I had issues with the GPS not being able to find a location or at times find it miles away from where I am... the phone has been exchanged 3 times to no avail.. LG insists in having it shipped to them (leaving me without a phone for 7 days) in order for them to "fix" it or replace it so I can get back another non-GPS working G2. a this point they should send in a G3 to alleviate all the headaches.. what a Joke..

Mostly under-rated, but some problems

Posted on: August 5th, 2014 by John Garlits

I had this phone for 6 months but recently upgraded thanks to T-Mobile's JUMP program. When I got it in Feb 2014, I was plenty happy with my choice. Best screen outside of perhaps AMOLED, and so much in a tight body was great. I liked the back buttons. The camera was strong and capable of some amazing detailed shots. Sound output was ok but easy to cover up. In games, the soft buttons were in the way a lot. It had excellent or horrible battery life depending on what was going on. I felt the need to root and mod mine, and even before that used Nova Launcher and disabled LG's apps when I could. Knock-on & off was revolutionary though not always reliable. Plastic was creaky if you bent it. Seemed to run hot a lot, even after root and Greenify. Xposed mods improved it greatly. A software update broke Google Play Music and lost some functionality like adjusting the target for autobrightness.

Awesome screen with a Compact Design

Posted on: June 16th, 2014 by Oliver Gandera

I had the G2 D801 ever since October and bought it over phones like Note 3 and 5s which had similar or same price. Now it's dropped so its the best bang for your buck better than Nexus 5. It has a awesome 5.2 inch screen with a really compact design and you will get used to back buttons display quality is top notch but in sunlight it does become a bit hard to read text. Battery life is really good but T-Mobile version still has a Bluetooth battery drain issue that they have not fixes yet so its probably not there in other versions of G2. Call Quality is solid. It has 4.4.2 with LG skin which is fast and responsive compared to Touchwiz it blows it away but its still far from being as good as Sense and Stock Android. The stock LG Launcher is horrible so get something like Nova Launcher which I get on all my devices either way. Also the camera is very good takes great photos outside and inside but inside the camera slows down and it takes a long time to snap a photo but outside its a dream. I recommended this phone to friends and they bought and liked it so you will also like it. This has been my first PhoneDog review OK bye!

Known Manufacture Defect on Batch. Reason for lower score.

Posted on: June 3rd, 2014 by Alex Smith

Even though the display is sharp, clear and high resolution, a known defect for a certain batch is that .5 inch edge to edge section near the top becomes completely unresponsive to touch. LG doesn't admit this and requires you to pay to have it shipped to Texas for testing. Even though by the IMEI they know your phone is one of those in the batch. A customer loses the use of their cell phone for a few weeks. This is a major customer support catastrophe. Out side of that, the phone's quad core responds really fast. No delays or pausing will loading apps. The video works really well as long as you hold the phone really steady.

Got the d802. Great phone. Love Android.. Too much bloatwear. But love the Qslide feature. Screen is great, battery life seems endlees. A very enjoyable phone. Wish you guys at Phonedog would post more about that phone.

I have been long time iphone owner, but also switch to android and have always gone quickly running back to iphone after being underwhelmed by the Samsung S series I have owned several of but this phone has hands down been the best phone I've ever owned.
