Unreliable

Posted on: June 13th, 2008 by Raquel Laskey

The good: Has withstood 2 years of drops and other physical abuseThe bad: Phone freezes, like a computer, and have to take battery out to restartSummary: I wouldn't get this phone if you need reliability. I use the phone as my home phone and cell phone (no land line) and it has been frozen during an emergency.... had to pull the battery out, wait 30 seconds, put back in, and restart before I could make my call. Happens on a regular basis, but noticeably more often during humid or warm weather.

Avoid this phone!

Posted on: August 15th, 2007 by Drift Wood

As soon as my phone freezes-- I march it in to the Verizon store and get a replacement. I'm on my 6th or 7th phone. I figure if Verizon insists on selling this piece of junk-- then they should have to face the consequences. I'm hoping they'll stop carrying it and let people switch to a different model. This phone deserves a total recall from the factory.

Don't Buy this Phone

Posted on: May 24th, 2007 by L M

The good: Lots of nifty features, decent cameraThe bad: Locks up on average about once per daySummary: LG is selling a lemon. My family bought 4 of these phones, and all four of them had the same problem. It will lock up periodically, with no indication until you notice that the time of the phone says 2AM when it's really 4PM. You will then realize that you have missed every call within that time. I switched to a simple Motorola, and I have not had any problems yet.Don't buy this phone.

LG VX5300

Posted on: November 20th, 2006 by Paul Prousalis

I have gone through 2 of this model phone. The second one is doing the exact same thing the first one is doing. The phone will hang (freeze) up and doen't respond to input. The clock on the phone will stop keeping time when it hangs.... if the clock on the phone is displaying the wrong time then it has hung up. The only way to free up the phone is to take the battery out and let it sit for a minute and the put it back. Then the phone will respond. The phone will not ring when someone calls. This maybe related to the phone freezing up. I have had people call me at home saying they had been trying to reach me on my cell and when they called it would either go directly to voicemail or after several rings would go to voicemail. The phone would show that no one called, so therefore no "missed" calls and there would be no voicemail notification. I tested it my self and found this to be the case. This phone is completely unreliable... and I would throw it away but it was provided to me by my work. Bith of the phones I had were right out of the box brand new. I just found out today thta a collegue of mine is haveing the "exact" same phone issues with hers as well. She has gone through 3 phones! The phones are provided by Verizon. LG NEEDS TO RECALL THESE PHONES FOR DEFECTIVE WORKMANSHIP!!
