"Beware- Non-Functioning GPS"
The good: Sleek, nice feel, attractive display, nice touchscreenThe bad: GPS did not work; Web browser clunkySummary: I bought this phone for the Telenav GPS function. The phone salesman & I tried it in the store, and it could not find a signal. Thinking it might have something to do with being indoors, I bought it anyway. The whole way home, it was unable to find a signal (I live in a small city just outside of Boston). It would just slowly load the directions, and, after about 5 minutes, give a weak GPS signal message or say the connection to the server was lost. The Telenav people walked me through trouble shooting for 2 hours, but finally told me that the GPS was not working and I should return the phone.
Back at the T-mobile store, they checked and confirmed that my data plan was active. They tried using another unit and got the same result. They also called an offsite tech worker to try it at her location, and it didn't work there, either- same thing happened.
After I returned the phone, I walked over to the Verizon Kiosk, and the GPS navigator on their phones came right up.
I assume this is some sort of early days glitch, but check this feature before you leave the store.
It was a shame- I otherwise really liked the phone, and T-mobile has nothing else like it at this time.
