"Great in some areas, but not in most."

Here is the most honest review of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus LTE. I am writing this because I feel that people don't spend enough time with a device to merit a useful, and accurate review.

The display is amazing, the blacks are pitch and the colors are vivid. 720p display on a phone is a beautiful thing, watching movies, and looking at photos is a dream come true on this device.

The reception and call quality is the absolute deal-breaker on this phone. 4G and 3G drops randomly and results in absolutely NO data or voice connectivity whatsoever. It always seems to happen seconds after you attempt to place a call, or send a text message, which is the only time you truly need it.

The battery is about average for an Android phone, I should also note that I purchased the official extended battery at the same time as the phone and have not even bothered with the standard stock battery. I can get about 10 - 12 hours with average use,and a work-day (8-9 hours) with heavy use. You will need to charge this at least once in the middle of the day unless you keep it in a desk all day.

I love the design of this phone, the button-less menu system has never hung up or lagged once. The power button on the right side, takes about a week to get used to, but once you do, you will find just how convenient it is compared to always being on the top.

Now lets be honest for a moment; Google Play is still bloated with crap. Don't take that the wrong way; Apple's App Store is no better at all, and Blackberry's AppWorld is the worst of them all. There are some really great apps on there though; Friendcaster (alternate to Facebook), Plume (alternate to Twitter), among others. The Google integration is the one savior to this (and all Android) devices.

Overall I can not honestly recommend this phone at the time of writing this review (June 2012) due solely to the horrible data connectivity, and reception. Verizon has promised fixes for the (now known) issues, yet has not released them to the entire public. If you are in the market for a nice phone, look into an Android device that can be rooted and flashed and you will have all the benefits of a Nexus, without the frustration.

Overall Rating for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus LTE: 2/5

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Written Review by Taylor

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Written...
Through all of the hundreds of Android phones that have released in the past year, the Galaxy Nexus is easily one of the most highly anticipated and notable that we at PhoneDog have had a chance to review. It's big, slim and stylish, and it comes packed with some of the best specifications we've seen in a handset to date. Officially, you can only purchase it through Verizon in the United States, but through other resellers, you can purchase an unsubsidized, unlocked GSM version that... more...
