"Nice phone... for free"

First off, I am sorry that these reviews show up as a giant mass of words.. but I guess that is the way it works... so to begin.. I got this phone with a very reasonable plan from Einstein PCS and the phone was free with a one-year plan. Not a bad deal! I quickly found out that this phone is definately not top of the line, but it gets the job done. The positive features are the pretty blue backlit screen and easy to access buttons. The phone also has a small footprint and sleek, smooth design. There are also funny little animations of a morphing creature with eyes that are entertaining when you first get it. The vibration function also works very well. The phone charges fast and keeps a pretty long charge.
On the downside, the ringtone is monophonic and is this awful high-pitched ringing noise. There are a handful of included ringtones, and one cool feature I found is the ability to compose your own ringtones. I did this, however, it is VERY difficult to do, even with one note at a time, and the system doesn't always work flawlessly. Sometimes the octave gets messed up and it is hard to figure out where you are on the musical staff. Needless to say, the composer feature is less than perfect, but I still use my own ringtone to this day.
Also, I found a strange flaw in the system. When I miss an incoming call, it shows up on my list, except the most recent call is listed about six times and fills up my page. It looks like the caller called many times, when they only actually called once. To make it even stranger, when I get another new call in, the previous listing turns to only one and the new call now is listed multiple times. This is not a big deal at all once you get used to, and are aware of this flaw, but it does show how this is a bit of a cheaper more flawed design.
In the end, since I do not need a flashy phone, I am very satisfied with this phone, especially since it was free with the plan. I also like having a phone that does not look like everyone elses, and it holds its own with it's own funky design and backlit screen. If you are getting a plan and are deciding between the free phone and a fancy expensive one, do yourself a favor and get something nice with the money you save like a nice dinner out.. or an iPod.. or put it towards a new car or something! Ok, that's all. Thanks for reading!
