Noah's Bark Episode 13 - iPhones at Walmart, Sony to make Android Phone, 8MP T-Mobile Phone

It's the Bark! for December 9. Verizon issues an update for the BlackBerry Storm, rumors fly surrounding a possible $99 iPhone, and 14 new companies join the "Open Handset Alliance," which frankly sounds like an afterschool club for roleplaying gamers. That and much, much more from the world of mobile tech, as only Noah from PhoneDog.com can provide it!

Mash-Up: Creating the ultimate FrankenPhone

Mash-Up: Creating the ultimate FrankenPhone

"That thing's going to Cricket" - Aaron Baker, News Editor FrankenPhone! It Lives! Wasn't it Mick Jagger who once crooned, "You can't always get what you want / But if you make a mash-up you kinda can?" Something like that, anyway. I'm tired of "close but no cigar" when it comes to mobile phones. iPhone's great except for that closed OS and no hard keyboard. Palm's WebOS is awesome but Palm can't seem to build a truly awesome piece of hardware...

Palm Pixi: A weekends worth of impressions

Palm Pixi: A weekend's worth of impressions

I love Palm's WebOS. I ultimately shied away from making the Palm Pre my daily phone, however, because I didn't much like its form factor. I'm not a big fan of slider phones, instead preferring thinner candybar devices even if they wind up having a larger footprint. I also couldn't stand Pre's QWERTY board and took issue with sharp edges that bordered the keyboard tray (even though my colleagues still think I'm crazy for that one). But I loved...
Live from NYC: T-Mobile Samsung Behold II drops Nov 18 for $229

Live from NYC: T-Mobile Samsung Behold II drops Nov 18 for $229

Adriana is live at the Samsung/T-Mobile joint press conference in New York City. She just texted me to say that the phone has officially been announced as available November 18 for $229 on contract. This contradicts widespread reports of a $199 price point that hit the Web earlier this week. So I texted her back saying, "Whoa, $229? Are you sure?" She hasn't replied. Probably because she doesn't have time to type out, "Yes, Noah, I'm sure. I...
Buyers Guide: Which (An)Droid is Right for Me, Pt 2

Buyers' Guide: Which (An)Droid is Right for Me, Pt 2

Verizon jumped into the Android game with both feet last Friday, selling the much hyped Motorola Droid and its more-than-capable little Sis, the HTC Droid Eris in stores across the nation. With the US' number one wireless carrier now selling phones built around Google's Android OS, the platform is poised for a big uptick in mass consumer adoption. Heck, AT&T might even start carrying a Google phone before too long. We want to take you on a...

LG enV2 in-depth review - At a Glance

What’s Good: Sleeker and smaller than the original EnV. Comfortable QWERTY keyboard and QVGA internal display make texting fun. Huge external keypad makes dialing easy. VCAST music and video support. Support for laptop tethering (phone as modem). What’s Not Good: External keypad makes the phone look like a retro calculator, although I suppose that could be seen as a good thing. Noah Answers Your Questions - Is there a difference, Samsung Pixon & Omnia?

Q. How does the Pixon differ from the Omnia?  Is it just the camera, or is there more to it? A. Omnia is a Windows Mobile smartphone.  Pixon runs a Samsung OS - it's not a full-blown smartphone. Cheers,Noah

Noah Answers Your Questions - Which AT&T or Verizon touchscreen?

Q. My phone plan is up in 2 weeks with Sprint. I'm really not sure which phone I should get I'm looking for a touchscreen phone with a keyboard. In your opinion what phone would be the best and it has to be from AT&T or Verizon.  I thank you for taking the time to read this. A. The HTC Touch Pro (Sprint/Verizon) or "Fuze" (AT&T) is a great touchscreen phone with a QWERTY board.  It runs WindowsMobile, so it's a full...

Noah Answers Your Questions - When can I have the Touch HD?

Q.Hey Noah, Love the work that you do. I was just wondering if you heard any whispers when the Touch HD will be coming to the US and if so which carrier. From the stuff I've seen I love it but if the wait is too long (say over 6 months) I'll just settle for the Touch Pro. Thanks! A. I'm amped up about the Touch HD, as well.  So far there's no word - or even whispering - about a US carrier.  I know HTC is interested in bringing...

Re: What ever happened to Phonedog TV???

adam360   Come up to Oaktown, I'll show you lazy!   No, kidding ... But for real, we can only do so much and we gotta pay the bills.  And neither PdogTV nor the podcasts really got enough traffic to make it worth continuing them, even though they were lots of fun.   That said, we're always brainstorming ideas for new content -- especially fun, interactive video stuff.  So maybe PhoneDog TV will come back in a new format...

Re: Re: iPhone 3GS vs Motorola Droid: DogFight, Pt 1

I don't even know how to respond to that.

Re: Re: iPhone 3GS vs Motorola Droid: DogFight, Pt 1

Good theory. I think it's a combination of hardware, software, and the types of memory used.

Re: Re: iPhone 3GS vs Motorola Droid: DogFight, Pt 1

Arrgh. You're right - typo in the video. Good catch, and my apologies.

Re: Re: iPhone 3GS vs Motorola Droid: DogFight, Pt 1

Droid is running the latest software - 2.0. They're both running the latest, most updated software available. At the same time. Really.
