PROSgreat colors, excellent camera, i've had this phone for three years now(since 6th grade) excellent beginer phone, so easy to use! the whole recording cant be used as ringtones issue van be solved easily, just send the recording in a text to yourself then save it as a ringtone. this phone is durable i have dropped it, thrown it, it fell in a running sink and no more than a little scratch is on it.
CONS
way too thick, it creates a big problem trying to get it in and out of my skinny jeans. it starts to freeze and shut down, but thats just because its old. so tomorrow im getting a versa.
SUMMARY
excellent phone for beginers, especially active middle schoolers. i would recamend it for around that age. very durable but too thick.

i had the same issue, but i had a warranty with mine. They sent me a new phone but not the battery. If you don't have a warranty then you will have to buy a new phone.

my brother had this phone. then i got the orange env. the problem with my phone is that it keeps randomly truning off! does anyone no how to fix this phone? if you do e-mail me at BridgetR1295@aol.com. thanks!! :) :P

I think my phone has a broken charging port. It wont charge anymore and i know its not the battery. can i get this fixed or do i need a completely new phone? if thats even possible

mine has the same problem. it always says charge complete after like 2 seconds but it still has no life left. anyone know what to do?

Ive had 4 env's the vx9900 version. it's a great phone for texting and i love it so much that ive tried to stick with it but now after my fourth phone breaking all from the charging ports breaking its getting over rated. the last time i replaced my phone for a broken charging port was in march 2009 its now the beginning of june 2009 and its already broken. i strongly do not recommend this phone enless you want to be replacing it about every four months.

PROSThis phone has a great camera with many options! Keyboard is easy to use! Its pretty durable! Nice screens and color choices.
CONS
Its a little thick and sometimes freezes up on me. Its not the most reliable phone once you think about it. I like having the full keyboard but you have to have the phone open to use some of the features.
SUMMARY
I like my enV but I would like to get a new phone. It has nice size keys that are very easy to type on but the phone is a little thick and I hate the big bump on the back where the camera is. I am on my 2nd one because they had to send me a replacement because my other one stopped working. I guess I am stuck with it until my contract is up next year. But I like the phone. It is pretty durable but scratches easily sometimes. I like having it though!

It's still on track for a June 20 release, and so far as I know I'll have a media review unit before then. As soon as I get it I'll start making videos and posting them, trust me! So stay tuned ... Hey, I'm getting a phone in a few months ( with verizon service ) and I can't decide on which phone i'd like to get. I'm thing the Alias ( Sch-u740 ) or maybe the glyde. I like more compact phones, not big and bulky. I also like being able to text at a good pace and taking pictures. I keep hearing bad things about the glyde's touch screen being over sensitive at times or just not working and the screen getting scratched up fast. If you could help me, that'd be great =) Thanks.

Hey,

I'd say try to get to a VZW store and try them out. I had some issues with Glyde's screen sensitivity, mainly during Web browsing, and the phone did get a scratch pretty quickly (though not on the screen itself). But the keyboard is great and I liked how small the phone is overall (it's a little thick but pretty compact). The shortcut menus are handy, too.

Alias on the other hand is much thinner, and if you like its keyboard I think it's great as a relatively basic messaging phone. When I reviewed the original u740 (basically Alias before they named it Alias) I really, really liked it and I couldn't stop texting on it. It doesn't have quite as many features as Glyde, though, and Glyde's camera is a little bit better - and has autofocus and a flash.

Sounds like EnV2 would be a great phone for you. It's not super thin/tiny and doesn't have a touchscreen so it should be pretty durable. But it's also a lot smaller than the first EnV, so it's not *too* big and bulky. It's got a decent camera and really is made for texting - I found the keyboard to be really great and the internal screen is good, too. You can text from the outside using the regular keypad, too, though it doesn't have left/right arrow keys.

If you look on PhoneDog.com you should be able to find a better price for it than in the Verizon store (if you extend your contract). Show the site to your Dad, have him click on the shopping links on our home page, and maybe he'll find a good deal and be grateful for having such a smart daughter :-)

I am trying to decide which one. A Samsung Glyde or a LG Venus. What would you suggest? I feel a lot more comfortable with Samsung because I already have a samsung phone. I won't be doing any web browsing or vcast so i don't care about that, I would be doing texting mostly. I want a phone that has a touch screen, slides, plays music, and has good battery life. Which one feels more durable, what if you drop it would it scratch or break easily? And which one seems to scratch on the screen more? I hate having scratches on my screen, so i don't really care about the back at all. Thanks

Good questions and kind of a tough call. I was definitely going to say Glyde until you brought up the scratches and durability. Venus is a bit heavier and has a soft-grip back that should hold up a little better when you drop it (though you said the back doesn't matter). My Glyde got a scratch on it within the first few days I had it - the scratch wasn't on the screen, but was on the front. Aside from that scratch I didn't have any problems with Glyde, but I only had it for a few weeks -- it might be totally fine, but it's definitely a bit less durable feeling than Venus.

That being said, I think Glyde is way better for texting. The QWERTY keyboard on Glyde is great, and I really prefer using QWERTY for texting. If you don't mind sticking to a "regular" keypad, Venus is fine, though. Even though Venus is on Verizon and Verizon's menus are usually terrible, they actually did a really good job on Venus' software for the most part. LG makes nice phones and Venus looks good. I found the half-touchscreen thing annoying after awhile, but that's just me.

As I always say, if you can get to a Verizon store go check 'em out for yourself. That's really the only way to know which one you'll like better.

you cant set your recordings as ringtones.
SUMMARY
I love this phone! Despite the fact that you cannot set your recordings as ringtones, its great. i would totally recomend this phone to anyone!

PROSThis phone is great and very comfortable for texting. It's light, the screens are set up well, I love the ability to have video as screensavers, the navigator is great, etc. etc....
CONS
There are only two things that I can think of that I would REALLY like to have on this phone without having to step up to another model: 1. Task feature (storing and checking off tasks) and 2. a simple hook for a lanyard to prevent it from hitting the ground if I drop it.
SUMMARY
Over-all its a really nice phone with a lot of convenient features. Just those two small additions, for me, and it would take it over the top!

PROSGreat picture quality, records videos nice too. Easy to use! Overall just well put together.
CONS
The only real problem I have with it is not being able to set a sound as a ringtone, the only way you can is if you send it to yourself as a message then save it as a ringtone, but oh well. Other than that the battery life seems a little low before needing a recharge.
SUMMARY
Nice pics, nice sound, nice design and easy to use. Overall I like this phone quite a bit it has some nice functions to it and only a couple insignificant flaws.

PROSWith a 2.0 megapixel camera, this phones takes the sharpest pictures I've ever seen on a phone.It has a high resolution screen and is very easy to use. I like that it has the option to use the regular number pad as well as a full key board.By the way the keyboard is awsome and feels good to type on.The volume for the music player is very good and suprised me with its superior sound quality.Text messaging is very easy and the full keyboard helps a lot. CONS
SUMMARY
There are very few cons to this phone. Once in a while I find that the Env likes to call my friends without my permisson, or suddenly burst into song in my pocket. Most of the time this can all be avoided by key guard.

PROSMain screen size and stereo speakers - all nice for a phone of it's size.
CONS
Would've loved it if they extended the main screen to eliminate the black border (giving the screen a widescreen effect). Would love it if I could listen to music on the phone while playing games on the phone.
SUMMARY
Overall experience with this phone has been a pleasant one. Although movies on the phone start to lag in an extreme fashion after about 30 minutes of viewing. Phone also still works fine despite me dropping it at least a hundred times. If your wanting to use the phones mp3 player during the day for at least a couple of hours, invest in the tank-looking extended battery. And I'm still waiting for a bluetooth ear piece that can stream music WIRELESSLY.
