T-Mobile has been dealing with some issues caused by flooding up in Washington state earlier this week, so it's not too surprising that they haven't gotten around to issuing a formal statement about the Slide.  But it's nice that it's back - it's smaller and lighter than the Sidekick LX ... and a bit less pricey, too.  And hey, if you go out and buy one, drop us a line letting us know how it works, okay?

Owners that are affected by the mysterious gremlin can call T-Mobile or head over to a local dealer to discuss their options. T-Mobile did not state what those options might be, but I would suspect you may be able to trade in your Slide for an LX or ID.

Official statement below;

 "T-Mobile USA suspended sales of the T-Mobile Sidekick Slide[TM] on Friday evening, Nov. 16, after Motorola - the manufacturer of the device - confirmed that some devices may inadvertently power off when the slide door on the front side of the phone is opened or closed.

T-Mobile has taken this action to help ensure our customers only receive devices we're confident will perform at their peak, so they can stay effortlessly connected to those who matter most.

Motorola is currently working to identify the root cause of the power cycle issue in affected Sidekick Slide devices. The T-Mobile Sidekick LX[TM] and Sidekick iD[TM] are not affected by this issue.

If a customer purchased a Sidekick Slide that is experiencing the unintended power cycle issue, they may contact T-Mobile Customer Care, or go to a T-Mobile retail store, for assistance and to discuss available options."

For the rest of us, the wait is almost up -  The Sidekick LX will be available in a midnight blue or espresso brown finish on October 17th for existing T-Mobile customers and to the general public on October 24th.  It rocks what's said to be a much improved screen over previous Sidekicks, along with a 3.5mm headphone jack, quad-band GSM, and a lighter, nicer, snazzier form factor. 

T-Mobile crossed their hearts and promised I'm on the list to get one soon, but meantime that crazy Boy Genius has already played with the LX and posted his thoughts.  What's he think?

"You really just have to use one yourself to appreciate it. It is definitely thinner and feels right when your typing, IMing, or MMSing on it. The speaker is ridiculously loud and clear, and the screen...wow. It's just like the Sidekick Slide, except a whole lot bigger."

Hear that?  It's the sound of thousands of teenage voices begging their parents/guardians/big brothers to buy them the new Sidekick ...
