As a helpful rep told me this morning, web2go is $9.95 a month and gives you high-speed Internet access for the first 10 Gigs of each month. After that, data is throttled but still available.

Web2go has been a bit awkward in the past and my wife generally avoided browsing on her Behold. T-Mobile recognized this consensus and responded by making web2go more touch screen friendly; requiring less scrolling and fewer clicks or taps to get to your favorite content (which will load faster, BTW). Dynamic RSS feed icons, customized weather, and um...horoscopes are included.

So, if you need a cheap data plan but were unhappy with web2go in the past, now might be the time to give it another shot.
I jumped into the hot water to get this phone. I wasn't sure what I was getting into. I previously owned a BlackBerry Curve, which was becoming a complete pain in the a$$! The Curve is Flimsier than a BB Pearl, about the only thing on a Curve better; hardware wise, was the battery cover (Still a pain in the ass to remove). Wi Fi caused my calls to drop often, E Mail sucked, and most importantly is that the software upgrades are poorly tested for QC, so they brick your phone.

One of the first things I noticed when I got this phone, was how well built it was.
The battery door is solid, doesn't feel weak, like on my previous BlackBerry phones. The SIM card slot and Flash card slot, are also better. I don't hot swap so its not an issue. On a BB these are cheaply made, and the SD card slot actually broke on one of mine easily.
The internet on this phone is faster than EVEN WiFi! Seriously!
I like that it was easy to get to the things I needed. Instead of navigating through a lot of menus to get where I need to go.

I go to my yahoo e mail through the internet. and thats fine. It's fast, and it gets the job done.

The music is LOUD! I own a Record Company, and I need a decent media player to show my music to people.

Look if you learn a lil patience, and how to program a lil bit, you can do a lot with this phone.

BTW I dropped my phone, and it was fine, just a couple scratches on the camera.
I freaked out at first; but it's made mostly of metal, so it was good.

Look. BlackBerries, are nice; but after a while you will get endless amounts of E Mails, your calls will drop often while connected to Wi Fi. The sides would push in when I held my Curve one handed, and I'm talking about the housing, and not any buttons. I was afraid to drop my BB Curve. seriously

This is a review from a former BlackBerry "Power User"
I'm just trying to help other people out before they jump, and get a BlackBerry over this phone.

So far...I LOVE IT!

Mine is the Espresso one BTW

USER COMMENT: Re: Samsung Behold T919 Light Rose

the phone is awsome. best touchscreen EVER!!!!

USER COMMENT: Re: Samsung Behold T919 Light Rose

well is not bad but sometimes while textin it messes the letters up! but other than that i've become so addicted to my phone. i hardly pay attention to my husband! its practically part of me!!

ARTICLE: Breaking: T-Mobile and Samsung Crippling Web Browser on Memoir

Many thanks to the reader who sent this tip - with photos - in, even though it made my Monday morning a little sad. Looks like T-Mobile and Samsung are up to the same nonsense it pulled with the Samsung Behold in touting the Memoir's "full HTML Web browser" only to cripple the sucker by routing it through their new Web2Go servers. According to the tip and photos I woke up to, Memoir is configured out of the box to render Web sites in some sort of "compelling and intuitive" new WAP + format, leaving them somewhere between WAP and HTML, with anchor tag type links added up top against a T-Mo Magenta background. Blech.

Guys, "full HTML" means full HTML, and it's what the people want. Leave the WAP formatting to Webmasters, okay? They know what they're doing.
The upside here is that it looks like the same hack that freed Behold from the chains of T-Mo's proxy server will also work on Memoir, giving you full access to the phone's Web browser. Memoir appears (from the photos) to ship with the same browser as Behold , and it's not a bad browser for a featurephone. An easy-to-follow hack will route you away from the Web2Go sever and out into the full Web, and according to our dear reader/viewer, the hack works on Memoir just like it does on Behold. S/he even included a few before an after photos as proof: PhoneDog may be missing an image or two in the "after" shot, but it's rendered more or less as it should be, and without that annoying magneta header.

Note that AT&T's Eternity ships with the same browser as Behold and Memoir but is fully ready to rock the big, bad HTML Web right of the box. I never thought I'd say this, but score one for AT&T and shame on you T-Mo. Or T-Mo and Samsung. Or whoever's behind this evil plot.

Here's another shot of another Website in "Web2Go" format, and a shot of the Admin screen that lets you change the server setting. I'll be sure to try this out myself and report back just as soon as I can. In the meantime, thanks Dear Reader ... and big ups for including a cameo of D12 in the background of your pics!

We are T-Mobile customers, so I called in and said I was looking for a good camera phone that had a full QWERTY; soft or physical. The agent immediately recommended the Behold, and pointed out that it comes in a rose color (pink). My wife likes pink when used tastefully, and this flavor of the phone does look feminine and classy.

I had seen a few reviews and forum posts saying that the "full HTML" browser was a disappointment, and that the 5MP cam spec was a bit misleading. With this in mind, I ordered the Behold. And this is where the difference between a happy and cheated customer lies. From what I've heard, T-Mo made a huge mistake in the way they marketed this device.

I never saw a Behold television commercial until after I had the phone. I don't see anything in the ad I watched online that misrepresents the handset. But apparently, the combination of terminology and image portrayed in various media came together to give people an inaccurate impression of the Behold. And full web browsing is not an appropriate term.

My wife loves the phone. So do I, really. She can get around just fine with her finger, but can use a stylus to play Bejeweled. The web browsing sucks, but she doesn't use it anyway. The question is, would she use it if it were available? Well, the server hack didn't work for me, but I'll keep tinkering. She does use IM and email, so I don't want to cut her data plan. $24.95 is a ridiculous fee for just those services, though. The $9.99 Web-2-Go has a data cap with an overage limit of $15. I would switch to that, but T-Mo says, "No-go." It's one of the two Behold data plans or no data at all, I'm sorry to say. The GPS isn't very good either. But again, she's just not interested in it.

As a media player, my wife loves the Behold. It sounds great with or without phones, and the screen looks darn nice. The camera is actually very cool. It may not be top-of-the-line in terms of image quality, but the photos look good to me - good enough for 4 X 6 prints. The interface is great, and I love browsing the photo gallery by tilting the phone and feeling a satisfying click each time a shot slides by. I think the panorama mode works well and is a nice touch.

Taking pictures is a true pleasure after using my G1. One feature that makes Behold a great camera phone is the smile mode. With this enabled, you get everyone together and press the shutter once. The cam takes care of focus and lighting adjustments. Then, you tell everyone to smile, hit the button again, and the picture is snapped almost instantly. This eliminates my number one complaint regarding camera phones. Most pics I take with a phone end up with everyone holding a fake half-smile; sick of waiting for my cam to snap.

In the end, I think the most important factor in purchasing a Behold is knowing its limitations. If you want a solid phone with a strong cam, good touchscreen, fun interface, and sleek look, you may love the Behold. If you want an Internet powerhouse, you'll hate it.

My verdict: Big thumbs up if matched to the right user.

VIDEO: Samsung TouchWiz Phones - Omnia, Eternity, Behold, Pt 3

Hands-on and in-depth with Samsung's new line of TouchWiz phones. I was perplexed by this, particularly because Samsung Eternity - a similar phone released around the same time on AT&T - has a rather nice full HTML browser out of the box.

Turns out that Behold also comes with a real HTML browser out of the box, but T-Mobile has configured the device to connect to the Web via the carrier's new servers, which serve everything up in this terrible half-HTML/half-WAP format that I really hope T-Mobile rethinks right quick. Fortunately, some enterpising Behold users figured out how to access the phone's Admin Settings menus in order to change the default Web browser settings.

I tried it, and while it can be a little slow from time to time, the
resultant Web browsing experience is far superior to what Behold does
out of the box. So how do you do it? Check it out, with thanks to

The G1 never did. I couldnt compare the video quality to the G1 but the Behold played a video that I randomly searched for on Youtube. Best of all, the volume was LOUD and extremely crisp. The picture was pretty pixelated though. Strange thing about it is, certain videos made the phone go crazy and reboot. I could not manage to pull up the Telenav most of the time and later learned online that it requires a separate monthly subscription to the service. However, I believe tmobile provides a 14 day trial. Not having Telenav was not a big deal since you can just go on Google Maps. I also tried using some of my transfered music as a ringtone but the phone only gives you the option of using it as a ringtone for callers. You are basically limited to the preloaded ones unless you purchase them online. The battery is pretty spot on but does go down quick depending on how much you use it to go on the internet and such. The screen backlight needs to be adjusted as it does hurt your eyes after a while. Texting needs getting used to and needs configurating if you have big fingers. Its fairly easy to text and mistakes arent as frequent as I thought it would be. With the influx of all these "smartphones", I guess I am one of the few who just wants a phone to be a phone! I don't need my phone to play music or search the web, though they are nice features to have for backup purposes. I have other devices for these things, and I don't like all my gadgets in one place because I don't want to be totally without if that one universal gadget is lost, stolen or broken. Also, I don't really want to search the net on a 3" or even 4" screen and certainly don't want to pay an additional $25-$35 a month for a data plan to do so - it's just not that serious. In the end, I didn't WANT a smartphone, so the "cons" of no Wi-Fi and no hot swapping were not cons for me. With this phone, I'm able to have the basic features I want with the latest touch-screen technology in a phone that turns heads.

For what I want the phone for (talking and light texting), I can do very well with the Behold, and I can do it in style! On a few calls, I did notice that I could hear my voice echoing, but it was rare. The menus are very easy to navigate, and I was able to use the phone right out of the box (though I do plan to read the manual to find any features that I may have missed). I listed the proprietary jack as a con, not because I want to use standard headphones or two peripherals at once, but because all of my previous phones are Samsungs, and I think it's sad that I can't use any of their chargers or accessories with this phone. I feel like changing the jack design every year is a way for them to make money from people purchasing new accessories, and that just irritates me to no end! Aside from that, my Behold is a joy to use.

As we all know by now, the price with 2 year contract and rebates is $149, but if you know you're a gadget hound who will be wanting a new phone next year, I recommend that you only get a 1 year contract extension. It's only $50 more, but that beats having to wait 2 years before you can get a new discounted phone, or paying full price for the new hotness that you KNOW is gonna come out in 2009.

** yeah, I copied this from my posting on another site. I didn't feel like typing it all over again. **

ARTICLE: T-Mobile preps for holiday cheer

T-Mobile's got your friends and family in mind for the season, and has announced a fresh line-up designed to keep you in touch. They're offering three new phones for taking pictures, texting, and gifting, plus a digital picture frame that uses a SIM card. Add to this another Companion Flights airline promotion, and you've got a pretty good recipe for happy T-Mo holidays.

First, I want to get to the cameo. It's a picture frame with a phone number. You can send the gadget surprise pics via MMS or email, so it's a great gift for family members. Update your loved ones with snaps from your phone on vacation, or email some hi-res photos from the desktop. Numbers *can* be blocked from the cameo, so think twice--but not three times--before mooning your buddies during their family Thanksgiving dinners. It requires a monthly plan with a one-year contract, and will be available soon.

If you're looking for a gift phone, the Samsung Behold might fit the bill, and it went on sale yesterday, Nov. 10th. With a full touchscreen, Samsung's TouchWiz interface, GPS, "full HTML browsing," and myFaves compatibility, this sexy 3G device could make a decent present at $150 (after contract and rebate). It also has a 5 MP cam with flash and video capture capability.

It's on the shelves now, and features a 5 MP camera with Xenon flash, Kodak optics, and "ultra-fast" shutter response. The phone is apparently incidental to the camera that is the ZN5.

Starting on the 17th, you can get Samsung's slide-out QWERTY texter, Gravity. It's designed for email, IM, MMS and video messaging. But if virtual visits aren't enough, you can take advantage of T-Mobile's Free Companion Flight 2008 promo. Extend or enter into a 2-year contract between 11/19 and 12/24, and be eligible for a free round-trip airline ticket with the purchase of one at full value from a special T-mo site.

So, Happy Thanksgiving, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Christmas, X-mas, Festivus, New Year's (and any other seasonable wishes), from your pals in pink at T-mo. I think I have a future as a salesman... Maybe not.

USER COMMENT: Re: Samsung Behold T919 Light Rose

bout time t-mobile got a sick phone and i cant wait to get this phone

VIDEO: Samsung Behold (T-Mobile) - Unboxing Part 2

Part 2 of Noah's early hands-on look at the Samsung Behold for T-Mobile. 5MP Camera, 3G data, Web/Email/IM, and it comes in Brown and Pink.

VIDEO: Samsung t919 Behold (T-Mobile) - Part 1

Behold!
