The Alias is with out a doubt a better phone than the En-V 2. The En-V 2 is a popular phone but when it comes down to things is actually horrible. I have heard more problems with it than anyother phone on the market. The flip hinges break and the buttons stop working LG came out with the En-V touch and En-V 3 to rplace all the crapy 2's.

JenJen from HowardForums apparently sweet talked a Verizon customer sales rep into selling her Samsung's new Alias 2 a few days before it's due to hit the streets. Why do I care? Because the Alias 2 is the first phone I've seen to use E-Ink technology to create a magically morphing keypad: The labels on the keys change depending on what mode the phone is in. I've been dreaming of something like this for years. Seriously. Yes, I'm that dorky.

Hey. I had the enV2 for my last phone. It wasn't a very good phone, and it didn't hold up very well. I currently have the Alias, and I love it! There's been nothing wrong with mine, and I'm hard on phones. I've dropped it a couple times, too. ;) Woops! Yes, the things I like about this phone are it has a QWERTY board, my last one did, but it was different, it's a flip phone so it hides the keys. When I had my enV2, it would call people in my pocket all the time! Even with keyguard settings turned ON!

I have this phone and it's doing everything that It's TILER said except I've only had it for like 4 months so I'm kinda confused. Some of my friends have had it way longer than me and their's still works perfectly......interesting.

i had this phone. key word in there, HAD. it was so awesome, until i had it for 9 months, then it started acting up( restarting itself, not turning the screen correctly, the whole shebang.) but the truth is, that i was thinking of getting this phone again when my contract expires in december. right now, i have an LG Voyager Titanium. and i don't really like it. the screen gets scratched real easy, and when its in your pocket, it will call people on its own. GET A FLIP PHONE!! IT WILL COVER THE KEYS!!!

i had this phone already for two years and this phone borke, got deactavited or buged over 17 times. in the last 2 mounths it broke 6 times. its a cool some what a cool looking phone but it is a peace of shit, everyone trust me don't wast your money by buying this stupid phone

If you just need something simple, and just messaging once in awhile, this phone will work for you. The qwerty keyboard is small but you get use to it after awhile. The camera is ok, I do like the option that you can change the color of the pic from bw, sepia, etc. I like how they give you alerts in the front of the screen so you know that you're alarm clock is on.

If you want free ringtones, the best thing to work is myxer.com and change phone to schu700 because it won't work if you put the Alias as phone preference. and you can change volume up to loudest, which I do. Other sites that offer free ringtones work but when someone calls you, it's barely can be heard.

Cellphone makers have tried all sorts of wacky things in their never ending attempts to cram more and more functionality into smaller and smaller devices. First seen - maybe? - on the ahead of its time Motorola Mpx 200, the dual hinge flip phone has never quite caught fire in the US market, but it's a neato bit of innovation nonetheless. Imagine a clamshell-style phone that opens both vertically and horizontally, so you can hold it like a phone or like a mini-laptop: That's a dual-hinge flip.

Samsung's Alias for Verizon is the only dual-flip currently on the market that I can think of. While not quite a runaway best seller, the Alias won over a few loyal fans (two of whom work for a certain blog I know pretty well). I for one really liked Alias when I reviewed it, though its lack of true smartphone functionality kept me from considering it for my own daily use phone.

According to Phone Arena, Alias is about to get a successor with a potentially tres cool new trick up its sleeve. The Verizon-bound Alias 2 U750 will be similar to the original except for a "dynamic keypad" featuring backlit buttons whose labels change depending on which way the phone has been opened. In other words, if the phone is opened vertically the buttons light up to show a standard dialing layout with numbers, softkeys, a D-pad and the like. If the phone is opened horizontally the buttons light up in a QWERTY layout for easy typing. Neato, huh?

No word on the rest of Alias 2's specs, but my fingers are crossed that all will be revealed next week at CTIA. In the meantime, there's more over at Phone Arena.

heyy im 13, i just ordered this phone, cause my friends have like the dare, env2, blackberries, etc... but when i was texting my friend in class today every one started questioning me about it after class, all in all its a great phone, it has mp3, bluetooth, 1.3 megapixel cam. w/flash and vids.... Also a front control panel for the mp3 or vcast watev u listen to.. And best of all the full qwerty key board+ its double hinged

This is a good phone to get. It is nice becaues not to many people have it because they think an enV2 would be better but really this phone has a lot less problems than an enV2. It has a pretty good battery and the touch sensor music buttons on the front aren't bad. You can just lock the front screen and then you can make them useless if you don't like them. I was a bit intimidated by the small buttons for texting but one you get the phone you adjust quickly and it is a great phone for texting.

From what i've heard, this phone is great! A guy at the verizon store told me this phone is better than the Env2. But, its like a lot cheaper. If you are looking for a phone with a full keyboard, this would be the phone for you. It also has a camera with flash, mp3 player, bluetooth, and video. I hear this is a great phone. This phone will knock the socks off your friends too!!

I bought this phone after seeing the Phonedog youtube video comparing the Alias to the Env2. I felt that the phone would better suit my needs than the Env2 due to the fact I have an iPod Touch and I do not need media. After trying both at the Verizon store and feeling how they felt in my pocket, I felt that the Env2 was too big for my needs. The Alias takes great pictures, or at least for my needs, and can text very easily. The keyboard has a natural layout and feel to it and I love having this phone.

The point of this comment: thank you Phonedog for making a great video comparing the two otherwise I may not have made the right choice to go with the Alias.

i have this phone :) i love it i feel good with. This is a very incredible phone its easy to figure out the qwerty keyboard is easy to use. And yeah u did not mention the touch buttons on the front for the music. Other than that I LOVE THIS PHONE!!!

I'm just re-entering the cell phone world after a 10 year hiatus. I thought this phone would have too many bells and whistles that I would never use, but the price was right so I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did.
I don't text, but I do email a fair amount from it. With my weird work schedule and the kids' appointments I find always having my schelduler with me to be very handy. I recently dropped my phone in a snow bank, brushed it off, and have had no problems at all.
It has definately exceeded my expectations.

Well, they went through with it. Samsung Mobile executed its wacky scheme to set the Guinness World Record for "Fastest Text Messaging While Skydiving" last Friday, December 20.

Professional skydivers texted while freefalling from 12,000 feet during the Samsung Mobile XTREME TEXTING event outside Los Angeles. They team used a range of Samsung Mobile messaging phones—including the Propel, Gravity, Rant, Alias and Messager—to text the following phrase: "The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human."

Though "Fastest Text Messaging While Skydiving" would be a brand new entry in the Guinness World Records, it's not the first text-related record on file: Jeremy Sng Gim of Singapore sent the "Fastest Text Message" last February by texting the same 160-character phrase in 41.40 seconds.
