I love flip phones to protect the screen as well as the smaller size when folded closed. I love the landscape qwerty design for texting. This phone packs all the features in a nice small package and it's just what I need! My pocket PC is like a brick and I don't use half of the features. Sprint needs to add the Alias to their line of phones! I'm surprised there are not more phones with the dual hinge.

USER COMMENT: Re: Samsung SCH-U740

Love this phone really self explanitory...anyone can use this phone. Only thing I hate is that the numbers for dialing are not in color...keys are grey and numbers are small. Make keys Red, Blue, Green anything then put the letters and numbers in white. That would have been helpful. So if you have poor vision you'll hate the small letters/numbers on this phone. Otherwise...well done Samsung!

VIDEO: Samsung Alias (Verizon) Unboxing and Hands-On

Noah unboxes the Samsung Alias VCAST messaging phone for Verizon. This update to the U740 features a dual-flip design with QWERTY keyboard, 1.3 MP camera, and media player with access to VCAST music and videos.

USER REVIEW: Samsung phone

PROS</b
Durable suprisingly, great for texting when you get used to the keyboard, cool design, lcd
CONS
Hard to type on keyboard for a while (then gets easier) hard to use for a while like a normal flip phone
SUMMARY
I've had it for about a year and dropped it a lot, and it still works like the day i got it suprisingly. great for texting

USER REVIEW: Great Phone

PROS</b
qwerty keyboard, cool style, double-hinge, great for texting, LCD screen
CONS
small buttons, easy to scratch LCD screen, apps are only availible in landscape mode
SUMMARY
its a great phone that has an awesome style and is great for textlovers. the only problem is that the buttons are kind of small and it is annoying that most of the get it now apps are only availible in landscape mode. other than than its a wonderful buy.

ARTICLE: And the winner of our Samsung SCH-U740 contest is....

PhoneDog and Samsung are proud to announce the winner of our user review contest, Jeff Davis of Nebraska. He will be receiving a new Samsung SCH-U740 for his review he left about his Verizon Motorola RAZR V3c.

The contest began March 12, 2007 and ran through April 30th, 2007. Jeff's review was selected randomly out of many approved during that time period. We would like to thank everyone who submitted a review and congratulate Jeff on behalf of PhoneDog and Samsung we are looking forward to our next special offer.

Jeff's RAZR V3c Review:

Pros: Thin & Phat all at the same time - It'd cut like a knife through butta

Cons: Sucks the life outta the battery - it's a little wobbly like a booble head on it's hinge after a year

Summary: Vowels are great on Wheel of Fortune - but Motorola struck it rich by leaving them out of the RAZR. The rest of the line just doesn't have the same panache as the original.

This is a great little phone, thin light and totally phat. The keys are great for playing usa today sudoku to my heart's content and the display is great for searching for my favorite wildkittens scores on yahoo.

Really, to tell you the truth. I like it, but I'm looking to replace it with the U740 and it's full keyboard action. I donno about the small number keys tho, bro.

ARTICLE: Win a Samsung SCH-U740 Messaging Phone!

PhoneDog is hooking up with Samsung to offer you the chance to win a SCH-u740 messaging phone for use on Verizon Wireless. Check out my Sixty Seconds of Phone overview of this great dual-flip phone - it's thin, has solid multimedia features, and a full QWERTY keyboard for text messaging madness.

The personal computer caught on first as a tool for creating and editing documents (word processing, desktop publishing, etc.), but really took off as a communications device with the spread of the Internet. Cell phones are following something of an inverted path, having started out as "mere" mobile phones and now turning into portable mini-computers. As handset capabilities increase and mobile broadband connections reach faster speeds, clever software and service providers should seek out new ways to connect, entice, and entertain us wherever we are.

To quote from EA Mobile's press release:

"As the world flattens, a widening demographic of mobile consumers look to their mobile devices as a source for entertainment. EA Mobile is entering the multiplayer gaming space at just the right time, as our data indicates that mobile games consumption is on an upswing, with 9.1 percent of U.S. mobile subscribers reporting they played a downloaded game in January. EA Mobile's leading mobile games Tetris and Bejeweled, are excellent venues to introduce multiplayer to the mainstream," said Seamus McAteer, Senior Analyst, M:Metrics.

Indeed. Don't be surprised to see Second Life on a mobile phone near you before too long...
