My brain kept itself occupied during the gimmicky, redundant plot and cheesy acting and directing by noticing the use of several Sony Ericsson cell phones during the course of the story.
First off, one of the bad guys (actually, it was a bad girl) used an SE w810 to show some video footage of a hostage in order to manipulate someone into doing something evil. I'll leave it at that, plot-wise, but I was (as always) struck at how video on the phone looked absolutely nothing like video actually looks when you watch it on a phone - or any other handheld, for that matter. The video footage was clearly superimposed onto the w810's display via post-production editing techniques. I know, I know, it's a movie so who cares? I can't help myself. I was also struck by how cool the w810 still looks - I love that black and orange color scheme. I myself had a w800i a few years ago, and at the time it was one of the coolest, most advanced feature phones around.

Next up the Head Bad Guy wields a P990 to orchestrate basically the entirety of his evil plot. The P990 fires remote-controlled guns, detonates remote-controlled bombs, and (if memory serves - I'm trying to block the entire movie out) steals the Secret Service's two-way radio frequency. Again, the P990's UI looks absolutely nothing like any P990 I've ever seen (I owned one for a short time a few years back). That's to be expected. The thing that got me? There's no way a P990 could have pulled that stuff off.

That phone, as capable as it was, was notoriously slow. If anyone had actually tried to command a nefarious plot with that thing, they would have wound up in custody faster than you can say "UI lag." Triggering time-sensitive events with a P990? Not a good idea, no matter how customized and souped-up your personal handset may be. You'd be much better off running your nefarious ops with an HTC Windows Mobile device or Apple iPhone. And the next time you're looking to rent a movie? You'd be much better off staying away from Vantage Point, whether you care about the role of cell phones in your films or not.

USER REVIEW: i HATE iT

PROS</b

CONS

SUMMARY
iF Y0U TALK T00 L0NG iT HANGS UP...Y0U BE TRYiNG T0 PUSH 0NE BUTT0N AND Y0U END UP PUSHiNG S0METHiNG ELSE. Besides it being a great deal, the phone is great...works great as a phone. The Walkman feature can be glitchy from time to time, but only when you upload a mass amount of songs at once, or when a song is playing and you are scrolling through the phone and doing other things like looking up numbers or playing games. Other than that the speaker is plenty loud for a tiny phone.

Being in the military, one thing I love are tactical gadgets. So when I found out that this phone had a camera flash that doubles at a super bright LED flashlight, I was sold. The flashlight also has a "S.O.S" feature where you can set it on S.O.S and it will blink in morse code a "help me" message. Also a cool tactical feature in case you are lost in the woods at night and a rescue team in a helicopter may be flying over head. The LED light is definetly bright enough to alert low flying aircraft. The flashlight is cool, but of course it drains battery life, but for those times that you may be in a dark movie theater and your drop your keys between the seats, the flashlight feature is pretty neat.

Sony offers a great service: free ring tone, theme, picture, and game downloads at their Sony Ericsson website.

The only thing I would highly recommend is as soon as you buy this phone, go on Ebay and find a durable case for it. I found an awesome silicon rubberized casing for it which protects it from damage, dust, and scratches. Only $10 bucks shipped on Ebay!

Also, I don't know if this is the case with other phones, but the car charger for this damn phone is $30 bucks at the local retailer outlets...insanely expensive for a charger. This phone rocks...the software is fantastic in every way (aesthetic, ease of use, good design all around), it's light, the camera is AMAZING, the mp3 player is awesome...and you wouldn't believe the sound! I didn't even want an mp3 player, and I thought for sure I would have to buy a "decent" set of headphones for this, but there is no need...the sound quality seems better than with my ipod and expensive earphones...and you can upgrade to a 2G memory stick! I was lucky enough to get the Da Vinci code special edition version of this phone and I'm quite impressed with its 2.0 megapixel camera and clear screen. However, I wish that this camera came with a camera cover (similar to one that is available on the Sony Ericsson K750i) as the camera lens on the W810i tends to collect dust over time. The built-in Mp3 Walkman works well though the speaker is nothing to brag about. The keys are somewhat hard to get used to at first, especially if you're currently using a phone with average size keys (e.g. the Motorola RAZR). The buttons that are harder to push for me are in the center of the phone (it's a silver circle in the picture). If you can get past the high price of this phone (I paid $350 with no service attached) and don't mind occasionally pushing the wrong key, then you should definitely consider this phone. Reception-wise, I am able to get full bars within the city and about 1 bar in mountain areas (my friends who have the K750i usually have no network signal at all in mountain regions and currently use the same service that I have)
