Time for another dogfight!  This time around, Aaron pits the HTC DROID DNA against the Samsung Galaxy Note II.  The HTC DROID DNA offers a 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU and is the first smartphone to pack a 5-inch Super LCD 3 1080p display.  Other features include an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD recording, 2,020 mAh battery, 4G LTE, and Android 4.1 with HTC Sense 4+.  The Samsung Galaxy Note II features a 1.6 GHz quad-core Exynos processor, 5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD display, 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD recording, 3,100 mAh battery, and Android 4.1 with TouchWiz.

They're both powerhouses in their own ways, but it's a dogfight battle and only one can win.  Which will it be?  Part 1 of 2.

Adrian Macias @Mark, why would Samsung drop the Note 2 in November, then another 4 months later. I think you are thinking of the Galaxy S4 my friend. :)

Zach Cline Well the galaxy S3 is a beast so I'm sure the note 2 will be no different
Anthony Bailey
Anthony Bailey Don't mind Brandon Worley. He's having a classic case of buyers remorse, egg on his face, not being able to get a Note II, or a combination of the three. "Samsung blows" but it's been mopping the floor with HTC for three years now? Never before have I seen a company rise and fall as fast as HTC. You seem to be the only idiot I see. HTC is no better than Apple at this point. They just keep feeding you sheep warmed-over products of something that first came out over 2.5 years ago: the HTC EVO 4G. I used to be a DIEHARD HTC fan and I hated Samsung. Then after I saw the Thunderbolt and then I owned the EVO 3D and then all of the dozens of other forgettable HTC phones that were just retooled versions of my EVO, I quickly realized the inevitable trainwreck HTC was about to be in. I was telling people for many months BEFORE HTC started to tumble, that they were doomed. And, I was right. Now, they are trying to sell you sheep a half-assed, third rate Galaxy Note that lacks expandable memory, has crap internal memory, and the internal software is basically the same crap from 2010. Then they try to blind you morons with "Ooooh! We have a 1080p screen!" Nevermind the fact that 1080p is overkill on a cellular device and really can't be noticed over a 720p phone. Super AMOLED HD > Super LCD crap found on HTC phones. Oh, and a year ago, I'd have agreed with you that HTC Sense was superior to TouchWiz, and so would most professional reviewers. Now, especially on Jelly Bean with the new intuitive Nature UX found on the Note II... TouchWiz SHITS all over Sense, and that's something I'm also seeing more and more professional reviewers admitting. I absolutely love TouchWiz, now, and could see myself using any HTC device or any device with Sense. Enjoy your craptacular phone. Let the countdown of irrelevancy start for your third rate device lol. :-D
Anthony Bailey
Anthony Bailey The Note II. The Droid DNA is basically just like the iPhone 5... a warmed-over, bigger version of a dozen other HTCs we've seen. The DNA doesn't look any different from my old HTC EVO 4G that came out in 2010, other than the fact it's bigger. 1080p screen is negligible, as anything beyond 720p on a cell phone doesn't translate well to the human eye. That's about all the bragging rights the DNA has. I'll stick to my Galaxy Note 2. One things for sure... the DNA won't be selling over 5 million units a month after its launch, as the Note II has. It probably never will through its entire product life.
Zach Cline
Zach Cline I wonder how it would fit in my jeans lol
Dan Bittner
Dan Bittner The samsung galaxy note2 is by the best phone on the market. Nothing comes close to it
Zach Cline
Zach Cline Yeah I'm not really liking the lack of an sd card slot on the dna

Michael Scott H
Michael Scott H My Note 2 nothing else can beat it
Jeff Shapiro
Jeff Shapiro DNA is first a foremost it's HTC - second it doesn't have a removal battery nor MicroSD expansion. It just has a higher resolution screen which is still smaller. HTC cameras are probably the worst in the industry too! WIN = GN2!
