Today's dogfight battle is between two Android powerhouses, but they're two devices that externally, can compete with the Apple iPhone 5 in the hardware department.  Aaron puts the HTC One and Google Nexus 4 to the dogfight test.

The HTC One's specs:

  • 1.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 CPU
  • 4.7-inch 1080p HD display
  • 2 GB of RAM
  • 32 or 64 GB of internal storage (non-expandable)
  • 4-ultrapixel camera with 1080p HD recording and HTC Zoe
  • 2,300 mAh battery
  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 5

The Google Nexus 4's specs:

  • 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU
  • 4.7-inch HD display (768x1280)
  • 2 GB of RAM
  • 8 or 16 GB of internal storage (non-expandable)
  • 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD recording
  • 2,100 mAh battery
  • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean (stock)

They're both beautiful, and both have distinct benefits.  The HTC One has a gorgeous metal frame, HTC Zoe capabilities, and cool software improvements like HTC BlinkFeed.  Its upcoming availability on AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile is a nice win for HTC.  The Nexus 4 is beautiful, packs stock Android 4.2, and is priced incredibly well at $299 without a contract (8 GB version).

Which one is the best all-around Android handset?  Part 1 of 2.
