The storm has arrived at PhoneDog, and it's packing thunder!  Aaron reviews the HTC ThunderBolt, Verizon's first 4G LTE phone and a device that closely resembles the HTC Inspire.  It offers a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, 4.3-inch display, 8-megapixel camera, 1.3-megapixel front-facing picture snapper, Android 2.2 with HTC Sense 2.0, and a kickstand for good measure.  It retails for $249.99 with a two-year agreement, or a jaw-dropping $599.99 without a contract.

It's a feature-rich device with a lot to offer (plus, it's Verizon's first 4G phone), but it has its downfalls.  The battery life is quite bad, and there seem to be issues with maintaining a 4G signal.  Is it the best device on Verizon?  We'll find out.  Part 1 of 2.

Michael Skrabacz Who cares about evo 3d. It could be a. Quad core its still on sprint network
William Smith Loved the EVO 4g but hated sprint. Love the thunderbolt with great coverage thanks Verizon! It's like a fine wine good thing come to those who wait!
Jamel Pegues Nopes its the same as the evo
Gerardo Ortega Verizon locked some stuff on the thunderbolt, good luck
Gerardo Ortega The EVO is almost a year old and the thunderbolt is new. EVO3D is way better than thunderbolt. EVO3D has a dual core 1.2 ghz processor to start.
Jean Pacrim Bring out the droid X2, WITH SUPER CHARGE BATTERY .......
Brandon Worley Learn to manage ur battery people...get rid of the big clock/weather widget...automatic task killer. I get same batt life as my X & my pro... A full day easy
George St. Martin Why is there all this hype over a phone that can't hold a charge for more than 6 hours of moderate use. Its not very "mobile" of you always have it plugged in to the wall. Get an Atrix. With heavy use, I get 14 hours out of it.
Zach Cline Richard is right, The thunderbolt will be forgotten is six months time ..
Jose Jacobo Loving the thunderbolt. Battery does suck . But the speed is awesome . Worth it !
Jose Jacobo Sprint's 4G is not real 4G...period. LTE. Now that's some serious speed. No BS .
Tony Abiama The Bolt wont have the same impact as the Evo. Better specs but its not the Evo... and the Evo 3D will be the Android winner this year anyway
Jory Simonds The evo is a solid phone....a close second to the tbolt
Jory Simonds Hell no...thunderbolt is way better people sorry
Howard Shiffer I can get 10-12 up but only one mbps up on wimax at my job though. My friend is getting thunderbolt so maybe I should do some speedtests.
Howard Shiffer It all comes down to 4g speed. I have evo here in Ohio but it doesn't work at my house.
Carlos Obando I have sprint and the Thunderbolt is better than the Evo 4G but not better than the EVO 3D
Randy Galvan Again...tmobile G2 will take the win :p
Jason L Naylor Its close but Evo is still better and the Evo3d will be even better
Tony Dear III I believe that it will have the same impact that the evo did. But in reality nothing is as good as the original.
Dan Hansen Been loving the Thunderbolt! Best phone out there. Sorry Sprint and AT&T fans...Truth hurts...
Michael Skrabacz @tony not for a month or two, and then on to the next best thing. Sprint sucks balls in chicago. 4G is spotty like a ginger kid.
Tony Dear III It should be it has 8 months of tech on it that's a dumb question. I own an evo and will admit its better but the evo 3d will not be topped.
James Bass No I have the evo nothing tops the evo
Flako Ramirez Yup betta dan Evo
Frankie Paz Got the Thunderbolt a few days ago.....light is leaking from the bottom of the screen. There's a gap where the screen ends and the body of the phone begins. Dust will definately get in! And since you HAVE to use the extended battery, you can't get a good case! Returning this phone!
Richard Taylor Who care about thunderbolt its juz a crappy hold over till the summer people wasting there upgrade.....evo started this 4g movement still one of the best after a year i wanna see if anyone even remember the thunderbolt after 6 months
Byktor Urvaes Yeah I guess it is, but don't worry in about 4 months Sprint will get the solution to that :-)
Tim Miyashiro It's the same, so no.
Alaye Kray Brown well obviously the inspire is better then all of them then would be the thunderbolt then the evo
Jesse Chen thunderbolt XP not for sale in australia, australia sucks!!
Simon Yu Of course it's better, 2nd Gen Snapdragon.. better 4G data speed, Richer Display, Better Sound Quality, More Ram(?)
Mel Mata I got my inspire stolen yesterday...I'm crying i miss it.... what do I do? Can phone dog hook me up with one..?
