Despite the publicity around the superphones, mid-range phones are still launching, and they're good for those that don't want (or need) all of the bells and whistles found in the high-end alternatives.  For the folks that want to keep things simple, Verizon's LG Lucid 2 could be just the smartphone.  It offers a nice level of personalization and a wireless charging option, all while keeping the cost down.

Specifications include:

  • 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 CPU
  • 4.3-inch qHD display (540x960 pixels)
  • 1 GB of RAM
  • 5-megapixel camera with 1080p HD recording
  • 2,460 mAh battery
  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with LG's UI
  • 4G LTE connectivity

At the low price of FREE with a two-year contract, it's a very solid option for those that don't want to shell out the cash or need the features that come with the Samsung Galaxy Note II, HTC One, and Samsung Galaxy S 4.  Can a phone like the Lucid 2 get LG back into the US smartphone game?  Part 2 of 2.
