Aaron reviews Verizon's Motorola DROID RAZR HD, one of the company's high-end smartphones for the holiday season.  An update to the original DROID RAZR, the RAZR HD sports a 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 CPU, 4.7-inch HD display, 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD recording, 4G LTE, 2,530 mAh battery, and Android 4.0 with Motorola's UI.  It's a nice upgrade and a solid contender.  Part 1 of 2.

"Motorola's Android skin is pretty close to stock. Is stock Android good enough, or are custom "skins" necessary?"

Nicholas Kresky lock stock and android
Mario Juarez I would buy this phone in a heartbeat if it was GSM
Vishal Nandre Nova and apex..... Highly recommended over stock skin.....
Willie Lucero I still dont like it very much its annoying having the main home screen all the way at the left then quick settings before it, and all the way to the right to add screens but everything else is good, but like alot of other people say, all phones just come 100% stock and give u options settings to use sense, touchwiz, lg u etc
Jonathan Kalm There is a reason I've used all the Nexus devices...
Sebastian Gomes Stock > skin
Scott Filip Stock, please.
Jonathan Penn Pajo Wade do the droid razr hd and the samsung galaxy s3!!
Josh Avondoglio I have the GSIII and although the phone is great, I miss the stock of my G2x.
Adrian Ruiz <----- This cool guy is waiting for his upgrade next month to get the Motorola DROID RAZR HD Maxx! I also get a $100 discount. Yeaaaaaaaaah Boooooooooi!
Josh White STOCK IS AMAZING I want a Droid RAZR MAXX HD because the OS is so close too it!
Humberto Cortes Raw feels better lol
Aaron Early I wouldn't know, because MOTOROLA FUCKED ME OVER ON MY PHOTON 4G UPDATE! Fucking wankers.
Killafiz Btw @ebadullah not sure what device you got now but root it and flash an asop (I think that's the name) rom for a stock Android experience
Killafiz I've had whatever the g1 and myTouch3g had(stock I guess?), sense the stock skin for the pos g2x stock on my nexus7 and touchwiz. I like both the newest stock for ics/jb and touchwiz
Curtis M. Cook Stock is better than every skin out there...period.
Trieu Tran Skins are heavy and make the phone slow, but they're more user friendly to me. I like a lot of Sense's features, using stock irritates me...personal preference I guess.
Ebadullah Bhurgri I have used both touch wiz and htc sense and i surely want to give my self a chance to get hand on the stock android ui but saying that i feel that the customers should be provided options to choose between the skins and ui's. I moved from iphone to android because it had no limitations and as a user I would love to get options in the ui. And now I feel the custom ui's have also been optimized with os and they do a great job at least on my s3 :p. So ridding them off completely is what i don't feel is good.
Jimmy Allen Custom skins are ALL crap
Keenan Ochoa Stock with nova launcher pro
Rani Hinnawi I like the option to be there, but also for you to turn on/off a skin so when you're in the mood for using HTC Sense, it's there, and if you want to go stock, you don't have to root the phone.
Gregory Holbird I agree with @tre that the skins should be there but able to be disabled. Htc Sense is great and the version of touchwiz on the galaxy Note is amazing. Stock is often boring and i have to load my phone with too many apps to do things i need to do.
Tre Goolsby I think Skins should be optional... all Androids should ask upon first boot.
Chris Northcutt I've never had stock to know what it would be like. I've always had Samsung Touchwiz
Scott Wesley Mason Don't have the battery on my phone to watch the review, but didn't Verizon say they aren't going to put stock on the DROID line of phones? It's unfortunate, but if it's close to stock, and updated almost like stock, I'm happy.
Warren Saunders Shame nobody has any :-P
Warren Saunders I love sense
Aaron Couts No skins and no bloatware
Cesario Brito Jr. Stock > "Skins" any day.
Jesse Ling As long as motoblur is dead,im cool
Kyle Cordiano Jellybean is fantastic stock.
