The worst service ever

Overall Rating:
1 out of 5
By: BERNARD JUTRAS on Thursday, April 10, 2008
From: BARDSTOWN, KY (United States)
Experience: 30 Days
Pros: none

Cons: all

Summary: We hooked our vonage and had nothing but trouble from day one.Sound would cut out constantly and we would be unable to hear the person on the other end and vise versa .Contacted technical support many times and nothing they did corrected the problem Then to add insult to injury ,they charged almost $100 to close my account !!!! .People do really stupid things and one of them would be to sign up for vonage .

Stay away and don't even think about using them.

Worst and Most Deceptive Company I Ever Dealt With

Overall Rating:
1.4 out of 5
By: carlo mckoy on Monday, June 04, 2007
From: charlotte, NC (United States)
Experience: 4 Months
Pros: none

Cons: Poor Service, Poor customer service, Appear to be dishonest

Summary: Join vonage 2/23/07. Had very poor quality. Could not even use the phone. Talked to customer service several times to no avail. Finally decided to cancel and called them on 3/15. They agreed to extend trial period for 30 days. Still was not able to get good service. I paid $61.73 upfront. They refused to acknowledge trial period extension and refund my money. Was told of cancellation fees but they would waived them if I remained w/ them until 5/23. I remained w/ them but still could not use phone. When I called to cancel, they refused and said I owed over $100 in cancellation fees. I had to cancel my credit card in order to keep them from continuing to charge me monthly fees. VERY DISHONEST ORGANIZATION. WILL NOT KEEP THEIR WORD. BE CAREFUL AND KNOW ALL FEES INVOLVED.
I am trying Sunrocket which has no contract commitments and no upfront fees. Had poor quality the same as Vonage, but they were able to diagnose the problem immediately and fix it. So far, so good with Sunrocket and they are cheap.

Vonage Phone & Fax Service

Overall Rating:
3 out of 5
By: Stephen O'Leary on Monday, November 27, 2006
From: Commerce Twp, MI (United States)
Experience: 18 Months
Pros: Great price

Cons: Shakey quality, mixed service

Summary: We have had Vonage as our primary phone provider for 18 months now. We run an at-home business & were delighted to learn we could move into our new house & keep our old phone number, keeping contact with all our old customers. The price, of course, was also a major factor in our decision to go VOIP. Now, a year and a half later, things are going tolerably well, now that we're used to the dropped signal, echoey sound quality & hours spent online trying to get the fax machine to work. 2 fax machines and a dozen support calls later, things are working tolerably well & we intend to stay with it. Support can be useless to excellent, depending how persistent you are and the luck of the draw, although that $199 deal for 2 years of Sunrocket is pretty tempting. I gather their support arm is even worse, so we'll just stay put for now.

I Love Vonage!

Overall Rating:
4.8 out of 5
By: R C on Friday, October 13, 2006
From: Brookfield, CT (United States)
Experience: 2 Years
Pros: Easy to set up, Excellent Customer Service, Excellent Price, Excellent Features.

Cons: Internet Service Provider - but that's not Vonage's Fault.

Summary: I got the router free, free sign up, free first month. Also, Vonage had problems getting my phone number from the local telephone company. I asked them for a price adjustment on their montly bill and they refunded my money until they received the number. I ended up getting a new number after they ported over the old number and they waived that fee too. They are VERY EASY TO DEAL WITH. Just ask them nicely!

Good experience with Vonage

Overall Rating:
4 out of 5
By: Robert McEwin on Thursday, August 03, 2006
From: Atlanta, GA (United States)
Experience: 2 Years
Pros: My local number transferred in 2 weeks.
Web site has all the info I need.
Setup was quick and easy and worked first time.

Cons: Quality varies, sometimes excellent, other times noisy. Most of the time it is adequate.

Summary: All in all, I can recommend Vonage. The setup was easy. Worked right out of the box. The quality is spotty, but this could just be normal network congestion either on the Internet on in Comcast network. I've never had to deal with tech support. I am moving soon (intra-Atlanta) and taking my Vonage router with me, so I don't have to get a new phone number.

Vonage Review

Overall Rating:
2 out of 5
By: AL schneider on Friday, June 02, 2006
From: salem, IL (United States)
Experience: 3 Years
Pros: Adpator works with charter and DSL SBC

Cons: poor customer service

Summary: Vonage works with some routers not ALL.Customer service mediocre at best and long holding sometimes.
During past years I had many problems like call dropping, not receiving calls, cannot dial ETC. Worked it out with Vonage.
Monthly fees were about $34 for sometime before they lowered it again.
when I signed up they charged me $34 activation and told me they won't charge me to disconnect but now they want to charge me 34 dollars disconnect fees.
I think Vonge is average.
I don't think you will get better service by paying more money.
Also always had problems making international calls. I called many times untill I got tired of it.
I am exploring my options on going to another provider at the current time.

Good Company to Deal With

Overall Rating:
3.8 out of 5
By: Elizabeth Stull on Wednesday, April 19, 2006
From: Boonville, MO (United States)
Experience: 8 Months
Pros: Website is easy to use and has EVERYTHING you could possibly need. I've never had a problem with customer service, they shipped our equipment quickly, it was easy to set up. Prices are very good and include many extras (call waiting, voicemail, etc..)

Cons: It's nearly impossible to get a local number.

Summary: Overall a very good company. I tried switching to Packet 8 for a local number and after delaing with them for a month, switched back to Vonage. I highly recommend Vonage.

No Major Problems Here!!

Overall Rating:
4.6 out of 5
By: Hunt Fitzgerald on Friday, February 24, 2006
From: Roxboro, NC (United States)
Experience: 18 Months
Pros: CHEAP!! Every function is handled from website. Dont have to call company to have number changed or get instruction on functions. Very thorough website.

Cons: Could use more tweaking for the power users.
Could throw their weight a bit more to free up more local numbers.

Summary: Awesome service!! I recommend to anyone. Make sure you have atleast 128k of upstream free at all times. QoS can get kind of shaky around 128 of upstream. I think I've had 100% uptime, barring any downtime from my internet provider (charter communications has poor service btw). I've never had to call for help. Only thing I really have a complaint about is the fact that Sprint won't release our local numbers , so I'm stuck with a out of town number.

Varies by Area

Overall Rating:
3.8 out of 5
By: Frederick Szczepanski on Monday, February 20, 2006
From: Irving, TX (United States)
Experience: 1 Years
Pros: Inexpensive
Great International Rates
Good Quality sound

Cons: ????
I cannot forward SPECIFIC numbers to another number. That's why I loved Lingo.

Summary: You have to see how good vonage will be in your area. In some areas, the service is awful. That was the case with Lingo down here in Dallas, TX. With vonage, however, it feels like I'm using a traditional phone line, except I'm paying a lot less. =]

Why do people hate the iPhone?

I got this question today via Facebook and thought it warranted some thought ... and all that thought warranted a blog post.  So I ask you, as you read on, what do YOU think?  Why do some people just seem to hate the iPhone (and Apple) so much?  Noah, maybe you can answer this for me: Why is it when people praise the iPhone, they're viewed as either blind fanboys, or on the Cupertino payroll, and when people praise 'any' other...
