They Will NEVER Let You Cancel

Overall Rating:
3.8 out of 5
By: Jennifer Butler on Monday, October 22, 2007
From: Newport, TN (United States)
Experience: 1 Years
Pros: Phone Service worked PERFECTLY. We loved it! It was the best bundle of service/price.

Cons: They will not cancel your service when you request it. Their computers will be 'down'.

Summary: Very unethical treatment of the customer. We were going to return to Vonage after we moved, but decided not to due to their deceptive business practices. Beware!

Keep it to yourself

Overall Rating:
3.2 out of 5
By: Robert Pittman on Saturday, October 21, 2006
From: carrollton, GA (United States)
Experience: 6 Years
Pros: Has worked flawlessly for me for six years.

Cons: Recommended to 84 year old friend. Vonage sent phone, but no ATA box. After much gnashing of teeth, technician brought out wireless phone she can't hear and can't plug regular phone into. After several three hour trips to try to help her and being dropped by customer service four times, we are both switching to another service, which I will never recommend.

Summary: Maybe failing to send the correct equipment, botching the in home and phone center service calls and the troubles with the tech center call transfer sytem was just a fluke.

But the frustrating hours wasted on the phone sure remind me of how much I hated ma bell.

Pros: Cheap Toll-Free Add-on Service, Technical Support

Cons: Volume, Quality Service

Summary: I was very pleased to purchase vonage in hopes no more wires and to use internet technology, but the audio is no good even with a 10Mbps service.

Vonage Unlimited

Overall Rating:
4.4 out of 5
By: Andy Danziger on Saturday, March 04, 2006
From: Roslyn Heights, NY (United States)
Experience: 2 Years
Pros: Outstanding call quality, great price for unlimited US calling, cheap international rates. Trouble free set up and use. I even use a fax machine on my line without any problems, something a few of the other companies say you can't do.

Cons: Though phone works immediately after activation, it takes a few weeks to get old number transferred if you're keeping it. This eats up most of the free month they give you when signing up. They don't provide quite as many extra calling features as some of the competition.

Summary: What's not to like? Perfect call quality and very cheap international rates. Unlike the service available from my cable TV company (Optimum), Vonage allows me to call anywhere in the world, not just US, Canada, Mexico and PR. Have been a customer since Sept. 03 (just a few months after they started) and couldn't be happier.

Great bargain!

Overall Rating:
3.6 out of 5
By: Nevie on Tuesday, October 04, 2005
From: Spring, TX (United States)
Experience: 16 Months
Pros: Great deal except for the customer service. If that is important to you, beware.

Cons: Customer Service is awful. The hold times are inexcusable (15-45 minutes)and the service reps are not friendly. But Vonage is so easy to use you won't have to call often. I have used it twice in over a year.

Summary: Big savings over traditional phone service. Excellent features and plenty of them. I love that calls are forwarded to my cell if my cable is out.

Vonage works great, price and features are great

Overall Rating:
4.5 out of 5
By: Charles on Tuesday, August 23, 2005
From: St. Charles, MO (United States)
Experience: 1 Weeks
Pros: Web based feature selection is awesome. You just click on a button to configure every feature and it's done. The price is 75% cheaper than what I have been paying (basic service fee + local call + long distance cost). I will save about $50.00 a month using Vonage.
Feature set is rich and getting better all the time.

Cons: The time it takes to convert your existing phone number takes about 20 days. But just leave your old phone connected to the (old) phone line along with your new Vonage phone to call out and you will have no trouble during the transition period. When your old number rings on your new Vonage phone, just disconnect the (old) phone and your done! Easy!

Summary: I use cheap Uniden cordless 2.4 Ghz phones (Model DCX-700) extensions from Best Buy at $30.00 each - I have 4 wireless phones in my home hooked to Vonage adapter and they work great. The Vonage voicemail features work well with these phones. No need for expensive IP router/phones if you already have a broadband router like I do. All the extra features would cost me at SBC - they are free at Vonage. Bye-bye SBC and AT&T!

Glad I switched - Cheaper costs are great - Customer Service is Poor

Overall Rating:
4 out of 5
By: Ron on Tuesday, June 14, 2005
From: Durham, NC (United States)
Experience: 3 Months
Pros: I am very happy with our decision to switch to Vonage from RoadRunner Digital phone. We've had no problems with the service itself and are always looking for recruits! I signed up online and within days, we were up and running.

Cons: However when I did try to call them about using it with our Tivo system, the customer service reps are rude, discourteous and don't know hardly anything about their service - I'm sure it will get better.

Summary: But overall we are totally excstatic about the cost savings for what we get. You can't beat it!

Cons: ABSOLUTELY NONE!

Love the HTC Touch Diamond but tired of basic black?  Or maybe you're into Sprint's red version but wish you could get the GSM version with the original "faceted" back plate done up in red?  You may be in luck.  French retailer Phone and Phone has the Touch Diamond in seven new colors on its website, and while there's nothing about worldwide availability of the newly colored faceplates, if this is legit it would stand to...

Phone Wars: Why do (some) people hate the iPhone?

Why do people hate the iPhone?

I got this question today via Facebook and thought it warranted some thought ... and all that thought warranted a blog post.  So I ask you, as you read on, what do YOU think?  Why do some people just seem to hate the iPhone (and Apple) so much?  Noah, maybe you can answer this for me: Why is it when people praise the iPhone, they're viewed as either blind fanboys, or on the Cupertino payroll, and when people praise 'any' other...

    BlackBerry Storm Video

Watching this video from Italian site ilTrillo.com is seriously a lot like watching a bootleg copy of a first-run movie that hasn't come to your local theater yet. Krave: VZW to sell Moto ZN4 touchscreen smartphone for $149

    Moto Z54 to VZW

Motorla's MING series of Linux-based, touchscreen smartphones have been pretty popular overseas but never really seen the light of day here in the US.  Sure, you could pick up an unlocked GSM MING via CompUSA or an importer, but without carrier backing most Americans had no idea that MING was a phone and not *just* a dynasty from their history books. Looks like Verizon Wireless is aiming to change all of that with the introduction of...
