Can't wait for Google's mobile platform to hit the streets on a handset actually designed around it? Don't be scared off by that CNET report that ran Thursday; Google and HTC fired right back saying they're still on track to release an Android phone before the end of this year.
While HTC can't do much until Google's Android team irons out what they've got left to iron out, both companies said they're still on track to drop HTC's Dream upon us in Q4 of '08. That is, just in time for the Holiday Shopping Season (TM). For what it's worth, CNET got a Google spoksperson to follow-up on the initial report, saying we remain on
schedule to deliver
the first Android-based handset this year and we're very excited to see
the momentum continuing to build behind the Android platform among
carriers, handset manufacturers, developers and consumers."
