A couple of days ago we reported that BlackBerry's App World had just passed the 10,000 app milestone, and today Android had its number of apps revealed for all to see, as well. In the press release announcing the new T-Mobile G2, it was noted that the Android Market now has over 80,000 apps available. This number represents a 10,000 app increase compared to the last official numbers we heard back in July, but is a little lower than the number reported by AndroLib a couple of months back.
While the Android Market still has a way to go before it catches up to the number of apps available in Apple's App Store, having 80,000 apps is quite a feat. The Android Market seems to be growing at a pace of around 10,000 apps per month, and I'm sure that that number is going to continue to increase as more varied and powerful Android handsets become available. While I'm sure there are some spam apps available in the Market that help inflate the numbers (like with any app store), there are plenty of quality ones, too. To help prove that point, shout out some of your favorite Android apps down in the comments.
