ZTE isn't a name we hear a lot of here in the U.S. smartphone market, but we thought you may want to know about their newest Android-powered smartphone. The handset you're looking at above is the ZTE Skate (inspired by a skateboard), which sports a 4.3-inch display of unknown resolution, 800MHz CPU, Adreno 200 GPU, 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, and Android 2.3. Expect the Skate to launch worldwide in May, although there's no mention of any sort of U.S. release.
While it may not feature a Tegra 2 core or crazy high-end camera, the ZTE Skate seems like a decent Android handset, especially since it has a nice, big display and Gingerbread preloaded. That's why it's kind of a disappointment that we likely won't be seeing the Skate arrive stateside any time soon, if we ever do. Here's to hoping that ZTE's got something up its sleeve for U.S.-based customers that's similar to the Skate.
