There have been tidbits of information on the Samsung Stratosphere dropping to Earth ever since late June when we first learned about the device and its SCH-i405 model number. All of that can finally come to an end today, though, as Verizon has made its first physical QWERTY-packin' LTE handset nice and official. The Stratosphere will be landing at Verizon on October 13th for $149.99 with a two-year contract and $50 mail-in rebate. As far as specs go, you're looking at a 4-inch 800x480 Super AMOLED display, 1GHz Hummingbird processor, 5-megapixel camera, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, 720p HD video capture, mobile hotspot support for up to eight devices on 4G (five on 3G), five-row landscape keyboard, and Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
As mentioned before, Verizon has released five LTE smartphones since the ThunderBolt arrived back in mid-March, but the Stratosphere is Big Red's first 4G handset with a physical keyboard bolted on. That feature alone is likely to help more than a few Stratospheres. Couple that with the device's $150 on-contract price tag, and Samsung's latest LTE offering has a chance to do pretty well with consumers. Are any of you thinking about snatching a Stratosphere on Thursday?
