When Google introduced the Motorola Nexus 6 earlier this month, the company confirmed that its new smartphone would be sold by AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular and Verizon. Now it looks like one more US operator could offer the N6 as well.
Ting, a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) of Sprint’s, revealed today that the Nexus 6 may be supported on its service “before the end of November.” It’s unknown whether Ting will sell the N6 itself or if it’ll simply make it easy for customers to buy an N6 and bring it on to Ting. However, Ting anticipates that any Nexus 6 units purchased from the Google Play Store will be able to be active on Ting’s service.
Nexus smartphones have often been available for use on multiple carriers in the US, but the identity of those operators has changed between models. That’s changing with the Nexus 6, which will be the first Nexus smartphone that’ll be available on all five big US operators. Now it sounds like it might be supported on Ting’s MVNO service, which is great news because it’s always good to see more consumers have access to quality smartphone hardware.
