Microsoft announced today that it’s partnering with Dropbox to integrate the cloud storage service into Microsoft Office on phones, tablets and the web. That includes accessing Dropbox files and folders from inside Office apps, support for editing Office files directly in Dropbox and syncing those files across devices and sharing files from Office using Dropbox’s sharing functionality.
Microsoft also notes that official Dropbox apps for Windows Phone and Windows tablets will launch “in the coming months.”
This Microsoft-Dropbox deal sounds great for Office users. Dropbox is one of the most widely used cloud storage services around, and so the ability to access Dropbox from Office apps and edit Office files from within Dropbox are big additions for anyone that uses Microsoft’s suite of document creation apps.
