Photos posted by Future Supplier claim to show a rear shell belonging to an “iPhone 6C.” The shell looks to be made of glossy plastic like the iPhone 5c, but there are a few cutouts on the new shell that differ from the old one. For example, there’s a new pill-shaped flash cutout on the iPhone 6C that’s similar to the one found on the iPhone 5s. The flash on the iPhone 5c is in the shape of a circle.
Meanwhile, the bottom of the iPhone 6c has eight speaker holes to the left of the Lightning port and another six holes to the right of the Lightning port. On the iPhone 5c, there are four speaker holes to the left of the Lightning port and a microphone hole on the right side of the port.
This rear shell is very much unconfirmed, and because Apple never comments on iPhone rumors, it’s unlikely that this will be confirmed or denied for a while. It’s possible that Apple could be crafting a new iPhone 6C, though. The company sold smaller 3.5-inch and 4-inch smartphones for quite a while, and I’m sure that there are still many consumers out there that’d prefer a 4-inch iPhone to a 4.7-inch or 5.5-inch model. And while Apple may not be making a new flagship-level smartphone with a small screen, it could craft an updated “C” model with a 4-inch display for folks that still want a small smartphone but don’t want to be stuck with outdated tech.
