Sprint is now pushing a 615.69MB update to its Galaxy Note 4 that includes a couple of notable improvements. First of all, the update bumps the Note 4 up to Android 5.1.1, the newest publicly available version of Android. Also included is a patch for the Stagefright bug that I told you about recently, an exploit that could allow someone to execute malicious code on your device simply by sending you an MMS.
Rounding out the update are some unspecified device stability improvements, bug fixes, and performance enhancements.
This is a pretty big update for Sprint Note 4 users. Most will appreciate getting bumped to Android 5.1.1, but equally as great is the quick fix for the Stagefright exploit that was exposed in late July. A lot of regular folks may not even know what Stagefright is, but thanks to this bug fix, Sprint Note 4 users won’t ever have to know.
