When Android Wear was first announced nearly a year and a half ago, Google named HTC as one of the platform’s partners. We still haven’t seen an Android Wear device from HTC, but a new report claims that such a device is indeed in the works.
HTC is said to be working on an Android Wear watch that’s codenamed “Halfbeak,” which is the name of a fish, just like other Android Wear watches have fishy codenames. Other details of the Halfbeak are light, but it’s said that the device will have a round display with a resolution of 360x360.
Considering that HTC was named as an Android Wear partner at launch and how several major smartphone makers have already released a smartwatch, it’s kind of weird that HTC hasn’t launched a smartwatch of its own yet. I’m interested to see what a round HTC smartwatch could look like, though, because HTC can still create some nice-looking hardware.
