Last year, Alcatel OneTouch launched Idol 3 and it got a lot of praise for offering solid bang for the buyer’s buck. Now a new leak has shown that Alcatel OneTouch has a follow-up in the works.
The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 4 and Idol 4S have both leaked out, and the source is Alcatel OneTouch’s own website. The spec lists of both phones have been discovered on Alcatel OneTouch support pages, even though neither has been announced. The Idol 4 is listed as having a 5.2-inch 1920x1080 display, 13-megapixel camera with dual tone LED flash, 8-megapixel front camera with wide-angle lens, and an octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor. There’s 16GB of storage that can be added to with a microSD slot, a 2610mAh battery, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Finally, there will be two versions of the Idol 4, one with 3GB of RAM and one with 2GB.
As you might expect, the Idol 4S is a bit beefier than the Idol 4. It’s listed as having a 5.5-inch 2560x1440 AMOLED screen, octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage that you can expand upon with a microSD card, 16-megapixel rear and 8-megapixel front cameras, and a 3000mAh battery. Like the Idol 4, the Idol 4S is expected to come equipped with Android 6.0.
The big draw of the Idol 3 phones were that they offered solid specs for affordable prices. They weren’t super high-end, but they looked good and had respectable performance. Considering how well-received the Idol 3 models were, it’s no surprise to learn that Alcatel OneTouch is cooking up new versions. It remains to be seen how much the Idol 4 and 4S will cost, but if Alcatel OneTouch can price them affordably like they did with the Idol 3, Alcatel OneTouch could have two more hits on their hands.
There’s no word on when we’ll see the Idol 4 and 4S made official, but the appearance of these full spec lists suggests that an announcement could be near. Perhaps an MWC reveal later this month is in the cards?
