According to a leaked screenshot of some internal Sprint documentation, Sprint will stop offering two-year contracts on May 24. It looks like existing Sprint subscribers will be able to get contracts “on a reactive basis only,” but most consumers will only be able to buy a new phone on a lease, monthly installment, or at full price when May 24 rolls around.
The leaked doc doesn’t say why Sprint is pulling a 180 (or is it now a 360?) and ceasing to offer two-year contracts. When Sprint brought back two-year contracts back in February, it noted that it was the only carrier to offer two-year commitments, but apparently it no longer sees that as enough of an advantage to continue offering contracts.
There are still five days left before this change will reportedly take place, so if you really want a contract with Sprint, you’ve got some time to get one.
