Google Now on Tap has been getting a lot of love lately in the form of new features, and today it’s receiving another big update.
Google says that it’s now rolling out more new features to Now on Tap. First up, you can now use Now on Tap to translate text on any screen. Chrome already translates web pages for you, but now you can use Now on Tap to translate text inside of other apps. When you encounter some text that needs translating, you can press and hold the Home button and you’ll get a “Translate this screen” card.
Google Now on Tap’s translation feature is now available for phones with the language set to English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian.
The second new Now on Tap feature is Discover. With Discover, you can get more news and other content related to what you find interesting. When you’re reading an article that you like, you can bring up Now on Tap and then tap the “Discover” button to get a stream of news and YouTube videos with related content.
Finally, Google is expanding on the image scanning feature that it launched in June. That feature already lets you use your camera to scan real world objects and learn more about them, and now can use it to scan barcodes and QR codes, too.
