Google Assistant is coming later this year to beef up Android’s digital assistant experience. While we wait for Assistant to arrive, it looks we’ll be getting some new Google Now features to play with.
A new “Explore Interests” section is appearing in Google Now for some Android users. As its name suggests, Explore Interests will let you explore different categories of things — like Sports, TV, Movies, Musicians, People, and Stocks — and then learn more about things in those categories. For example, you could tell Google that you’re interested in Game of Thrones in TV or LeBron James in People.
Once you’ve added an interest, it’ll appear in a card in your Google Now feed. With this card, Google can help to keep you informed about your specific interests.
Google Now is already pretty good at keeping you updated on topics that you’ve shown interest in, like a favorite team or mobile operating system. With Explore Interests, it looks like Google Now could get even more specific and also let you quickly add subjects that you want to stay informed about.
Google hasn’t made any official announcements about this Explore Interests feature. It appears to be slowly rolling out, so keep an eye on your Google Now feed for the new card.
