Twitter is one of the more popular social networks around right now, and it could be acquired soon.
A new report claims that several companies have reached out to Twitter with interest in buying the social media site. That includes Google and Salesforce.com, say sources speaking to CNBC, as well as other unnamed technology companies.
No sale is imminent, says today’s report, but Twitter’s board of directors interested in getting a deal done. One source claims that the talks are gaining steam and that a deal could be made before 2016 is over.
While none of the companies involved have confirmed that acquisition talks are happening, a Salesforce.com exec did immediately tweet about Twitter following today’s report. Vala Afshar, Salesforce.com’s Chief Digital Evangelist, sent out the following tweet this morning:
1 personal learning network
2 the best realtime, context rich news
3 democratize intelligence
4 great place to promote others

Whoever ends up buying Twitter, if anyone, is likely interested in the data that can be gathered from users as they are about anything else.
Which company do you think would be the best to buy Twitter?
