BlackBerry may be done developing hardware itself, but that doesn’t mean that we’re done seeing the BlackBerry name on new smartphones.
The DTEK60 shown in these photos doesn’t look terribly different from the DTEK50, which launched earlier this year. There’s good reason for that, though, as they’re both made by TCL, who also makes phones with the Alcatel name.
While the DTEK60 may not look too different from the DTEK50, the feature sets of the two phones are pretty different. Whereas the DTEK50 is a mid-range device, the DTEK60 is expected to be a higher-end phone with specs that include a 5.5-inch 2560x1440 display, Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 21-megapixel rear camera.

Other rumored DTEK60 specs include an 8-megapixel front camera, 32GB of storage, and a 3000mAh battery. As you can see on the back of the phone, there’s also a fingerprint reader below the 21-megapixel rear camera.
The DTEK60 is rumored to be launching in Canada on October 11 for $699 CAD ($534 USD). Considering that the DTEK50 was launched in Canada as well as the US, UK, France, and other countries, we could see a similar release for the DTEK60.
While still unconfirmed, the DTEK60 looks like a full-touch compliment to the Priv, which is BlackBerry’s current flagship Android smartphone that offers a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The DTEK60 looks like a respectable device, but if it is indeed close to launch, it’s going to face fierce competition from the likes of the LG V20, Samsung Galaxy Note 7, and iPhone 7 Plus.
What do you think of this DTEK60? Does the leaked BlackBerry phone interest you?
