The unlocked Samsung Galaxy S7 is receiving its Android 7.0 update, around one week after the unlocked GS7 edge was updated. The Galaxy S7’s update is 1226MB and includes an upgrade to Android 7.0, “new UX and various performance modes”, and more.
If you’ve got an unlocked Galaxy S7 and you’re hungry for a Nougat treat, you can manually check for this update by going into Settings > About > Download updates manually.
Usually we see unlocked Android phones updated before their carrier-branded counterparts, as the updates for the latter models typically have more testing to go through before they’re released to the public. That wasn’t the case with Android 7.0 for the unlocked Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, though. It’s unclear why these updates took so long to reach consumers, but hopefully updates come a little faster in the future.
