Apple is now selling a SIM-free iPhone X in the U.S.. Buying this model means that you can completely skip the carrier activation part of buying a new iPhone and take your unlocked device to whatever carrier that you want.
Because these devices are sold unlocked and carrier-free, you'll be paying full price for your device. That means that the 64GB iPhone X will cost $999 and the 256GB model will set you back $1,149.
Buying a smartphone for full price isn't going to be for everyone, especially when it comes to $1,000+ devices like the iPhone X. For those customers who are willing to pay for the freedom of a SIM-free smartphone, though, it's nice that Apple offers the option.
