AT&T is closing 40% of its retail stores starting today, March 18th. This includes all AT&T retail and authorized retail stores within indoor malls as well as stores in high traffic areas. All stores will be closed on Sundays.
Stores that are remaining open will have adjusted hours from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm local time. You can check the status of your local stores using AT&T's store tracker.
Additionally, AT&T says that capacity at its call centers has declined as a result of employees on leave because they've got kids whose schools have closed or those who are at higher risk to the coronavirus. Because of this and AT&T adjusting its call center staffing levels, customers may encounter longer hold times.
Call centers are using new Interactive Voice Response messaging to help customers use online self-help tools.
