Google teased last month that a new version of Google Maps for the Apple Watch was coming soon, and now it's officially arrived.
The newest update for Google Maps on iOS brings with it an Apple Watch app. Just grab Google Maps version 5.52 from the App Store and you should then be able to install Google Maps onto your Apple Watch.
Google Maps for Apple Watch does require watchOS 5.0 or later to install.
While you can't begin navigation from the Apple Watch version of Google Maps, you can start a trip on your paired iPhone and then continue getting directions on your Apple Watch. You can also get access to saved locations like Home and Work.
This is actually the second time that Google Maps has come to the Apple Watch. The first app launched way back in 2015, but Google Maps dropped support for the Apple Watch in 2017. Now Google Maps is back on the Apple Watch, letting folks who prefer Google's mapping app over Apple's see their directions on their wrist.
